She left the show so they had to kill her off.

I could see it coming, but I still kept hoping the local doctor would win the argument in time. Sooooo sad.

Do you think Tom will stay at Downton now?

I was heartbroken at Sybil's death, she was my favourite character. I just kept thinking 'she will come back to life!' But it didn't happen.

As another poster said, she left the show so they had no choice but to kill her off. It's a shame people want to leave the show and what else can they do but kill them?

I hate to say it, but upcoming episodes are just as sad, if not sadder.

Can this thread be spoiler free? If not, I will probably unsubscribe. I like the element of surprise, even in cases like last night. It was devastatingly sad but I'm glad I didn't know ahead of time.

I don't know how to discuss a TV show without discussing what happened on the TV show. If I hadn't seen the episode I would not open the thread and also, not have anything to say. I'm just saying.

I think she was referring to posts like the one just before hers commenting on upcoming episodes.

You know why we think that? Because this is possibly the very first bad thing that has happened in all seasons that will not be undone. Think about it.... every conflict gets resolved. Fairly quickly too. It gets to the point where there probably should be something bad that happens that can't be resolved. That's life. But yea....Sybill

I don't know why they just couldn't have made her slip into a coma, for a little while. I was so sad last night, then I got a little mad. Oh well, guess I will get over it.
I was so sad by it, but in reality, back then if someone slipped into a coma, they were going to die. A lot of women died in child birth (and children too) back then. Had they let her slip into a coma then brougth her back, it would have no longer been 'real' for me.

By "spoilers" I meant discussing episodes that haven't aired yet. If this is a thread where people want spoilers though, I get it. Some people love them. I just would rather wait and find out what happens as it airs. Of course, I don't want the thread to change just for me and would never expect that. I would just unsubscribe and you all could still have your spoiler fun

For the record this thread was a spoiler for me and I never opened it. However, when I went to my subscribed threads, the first sentence pretty much shows up in the preview. It was there. So be it. I wish the first sentence wasn't a dead giveaway...no pun intended.

Either way, after catching up, I'm so sad about Sybil, but it is the reality of the times. It saddens me that the doctors did nothing. That her death was a result of arguments, egos and rank and will result in continued conflict.

I love this show but this was hard to watch. Lots of tissues on hand and a lot of tears!
