Harry Potter fans - The DIS Discussion Forums

We're heading to Universal in a few days. My dd's friend's birthday is when we return, and the friend is a huge Harry Potter fan. My family are not really fans, so we don't know what would be a great gift.

We'd love to get friend (girl turning 13yo) something she can't get at home in NY. Any ideas would be very appreciated!

Can you DD find out what House she identifies with? There are lots of t shirts and pins and things that have to do with the 4 particular Houses. Perhaps find out her favourite character as well. There are many unique things for each character. Wands seem to be the most popular gift and they can be either character wands or birthday wands. They run about $30.

ahhh, thank you!! I'll email her mom. I wouldn't have known about the 'house' thing. We only watched a part of HP's first movie, and the kids were just too creeped out and never wanted to revisit it.

Several people in my family, including myself, are HUGE Potter fans... I think you should find out her favorite character, and get that character's wand for her! :D

You could also hit Honeydukes (candy store) and bring her home a bag of treats (all themed from the movie, like Chocolate Frogs, Fizzing Whizzbees, Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, etc)

Ooh I second that! You can order shirts and stuff online but I don't recall ever seeing anything from Honeydukes online. I'd just be careful about anything melting.
