Question What to wear for semi-formal nights? (teen girl)

I'm a little confused for the semi-formal night. I'm 16 and a girl and unsure what to wear, so any suggestions of styles or something or comments of what girls my age normally wear are helpful.

Do some people not dress up at all?
Do some people go overboard?
Should I aim for a sundress or a homecoming sort of dress look?

The 7 day tends to be more formal than the 4/5 day IMHO. You will see everything and I mean everything. A nice sundress or short homecoming/ dance/prom dress would certainly work for semiformal or formal for that matter.

I'm 17 and was on an 8-day cruise in July
I agree with Tooth Fairy, usually people don't dress up as much on shorter cruises than longer ones, so that might help.

I wore a dress that was more like a homecoming dress for semi-formal, just a little less fancier than my formal night dress, but my family also tends to dress up a little more than others even on casual nights. We follow all the no shorts and jeans rules. It's really up to you, a sundress is acceptable too. I would see how much your family is dressing up and kind of base it off of that

My DD likes to dress up. On our 14 night cruise, she brought her prom dress for formal night and something a bit less dressy for semi. In fairness, only she and one other young lady were in all out ball gowns on formal night. They became instant friends.

The above is right--the shorter the cruise, the less people seem to dress up. Any sort of sundress or something that you might wear to an afternoon wedding will be fine for semi-formal night. On the 3/4 nights there is no semi. There is "Dress up optional" and you will see literally everything from shorts and jeans to a very few gowns.

Yes, either.

Truthfully, as long as it is clean and not jeans or shorts, no one will care.
