PSA: Don't Put Things Off With Friends

If you've been thinking of doing something with a friend (s), stop thinking about it and DO IT.

Back in the early 80's I was on a ladies bowling league with my best friend and two other gals we met through the league. I got back in touch with one of the other gals through Facebook a couple of years ago. Then when my friend moved back up here (had moved to Grand Rapids, about an hour and a half away, several years ago) in March I started thinking how nice it would be for the 3 of us to get together for lunch sometime.

She passed away last week. She had been in the hospital a couple of weeks prior, but was on Facebook while she was there and talked about a kind nurse bringing her a real cup of coffee since she could only order decaf at meals, so I didn't think it was anything super serious and of course I didn't want to ask.

So I was shocked when last Sunday her daughter posted on Facebook that her Mom had passed away that morning. She said it had only been a month from first symptoms of illness to her death.

I so regret not calling her months ago to invite her to go to lunch with us, now we will never have that chance.

So, don't put things off with friends. Do them now before its too late.

I am so sorry we have been through the same thing, my mum's best friend was diagnosed with lung cancer, and she died two weeks ago. Luckily it wasn't all sudden- we spoke about meeting but didn't get round to it. When she got secondaries my mum went round, and we are so glad because she died a few days later.

*sigh* Why do the nice people always have to die? We can't stop thinking about her.

I hope you're okay, and I too would urge everyone to treasure every minute they have with friends

I'm so sorry to read about your friend and what you say is so true. We do need to get back in touch and keep in touch with our friends for a lot of reasons.

It's not that bad things happen to good people any more than to bad people - the good people simply by the way they lived their lives affected more people in a positive way, and are missed by more people because of that. We all will die, but thinking that way after someone's passing is really a testament to how well they lived .
