What? No breakfast at Boatwright's !

I really cannot believe that they took away breakfast at Boatwright's at POR ! I felt that was one of the perks of staying at a moderate was at least having 1 other choice for dining other than the food court. They're counter service is adequate but we don't like to have to eat CS everyday. We are going to do 2 character breakfasts but other than that we really enjoyed having a Boatwright's breakfast at least twice during our stays there. It was always crowded so it can't be b/c business was down, or could it ? I'm just hoping they might reopen by next April ! Does anyone know anything about this?

That stinks. We stayed at Port Orleans years ago and had breakfast there one morning and it was the best omelet ever.

Last time we were there, they were no longer serving breakfast. I just did a quick search and found that they stopped serving breakfast in February 2009, so I doubt that they will pick it up again any time soon.

It's a shame, isn't it? I really liked their breakfast and was disappointed when they ended it. Lots of restaurants are doing that, unfortunately. Most recently, Turf Club stopped their lunch service, making yet another resort where the only table service meal served is dinner.

I wonder why they are doing this? I mean you'd think they'd at least replace it with something better not just stop serving. Breakfast at Boatwrights had to be profitable it was always busy ! At least when we stayed there and it wasn't peak times. I wonder if there's a place we can complain to WDW or at least suggest things or would they even listen? I'm just bummed b/c I really looked forward to that as part of our itinerary. While at WDW, we aren't much of lunch eaters. We like a good breakfast, midday snack, and then a good dinner (usually a later one). I guess we'll have to do some breakfast skipping and try some early lunches.

They are doing this because Disney probably wanted to shift the cost of staffing the restaurants for those meals. Most guests apparently prefer a quick breakfast, or breakfast in the parks, unless you throw characters into the mix.

If a TS breakfast is a must do for your family, but you don't want to do a character breakfast every day, then book a breakfast at one of the non-character restaurants at one of the deluxe resorts.

Boma, GFC, the Wave, Kona Cafe, Whispering Canyon, Captain's Grille, and Kouzzina all spring to mind.

I believe that CSR is the only mod that has a TS breakfast (Maya Grill)

Boatwrights breakfast always seemed pretty busy every time we ate there.

But then, so was Tony's breakfast.

Completely agree about Tony's! That was a great breakfast in a great setting. They should have kept the breakfast there and eliminated the dinners. I would book that breakfast every time I go if they still had it.

I think it's a shame they don't have the TS open for breakfast at the mods (Boatwright's & Shutters). A TS option should be available for all meals in the mods IMO.

I realize that going elsewhere is an option, but I would like a TS breakfast right at my own resort so we didn't have to take a bus just to go eat. I sometimes plan to stay at the resort and swim until we hit the parks later in the afternoon. So it's nice to have TS available for those days. I do want to try Kona tho, that Tonga Toast looks wonderful! I loved Boma's breakfast too. We will just figure something out. Not a big problem...just a little disappointment. Will miss the convenience.

Just because it looked busy, doesn't mean the profit margin was there to make it financially worth keeping the place open for breakfast.

We had b/fast there a few months before it closed. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The cost of our b/fast was only slightly more than the food court. They stopped serving b/fast several years ago, I doubt they'll bring it back.

Maya Grill at CSR stopped serving breakfast a few years ago too. POR, CBR, CSR all have no TS breakfast.

Boatwright's had the best french toast, it was french bread fried and rolled in cinnamon and sugar, it was delicious (albeit, not healthy), but delicious.
