Here Now...small highchairs....UPDATE with a picture

Just a warning, about 2/3 of the restaurants we have been to have very small highchairs and no booster seats. My poor Dh has had to hold a squirming 21 month old for most of our meals.

This is the highchair that many of our restaurant choices only offered.

We found these at R & C, San Angel Inn, the QS in Dinoland, Sunshine Seasons, Akurshus, and CRT.

I can see why they have these, as traditional highchairs tend to be too big for infants that can sit up, however to only carry these was very frustrating for us, since our toddler did not fit in them. Plus if the restaurant had a booster seat, which some did not, my DS isn't used to them, so he kept wiggling out and just had to be held anyway.

Really? We found them to be the normal black plastic ones this time last year. DS was 15mos, but he's gigantic. He fit fine. He's been refusing to sit in them for a while now, though, so I don't guess it will matter when we go back for him, just his baby brother.

Just back two weeks ago. We found standard black plastic highchairs everywhere we ate. My youngest is 3, but acts much younger and needs a hc to stay put. He's a regular sized three-year-old and fit perfectly fine.

Hmmm...this is a little annoying. My DS will be 18 months on our next trip and when we went in May (he was just under a year) he was already having a hard time getting comfortable in the high chairs...well he is really squirmy and pretty much uncomfortable in any high chair. We purchased an Eddie Bauer pop up travel booster seat that can be easily stored under our stroller, but my DH was trying to convince me not to bring it. I think it might be wise to bring it now and just set it up every time we eat!

those are what they are using in our towns now...the same type...I can see it would be hard to put their legs down into this type..
I agree with the previous poster...to get the ones that fold up and you can hook it to the table...if permitted..

I guess maybe it's what you're used to...I literally just saw the same ones at multiple fast food places as we crossed the state last weekend, including Wendy's and jack in the box. DS (at 28mos) has been anti-high chair for a while, but definitely fit in that kind at 15mos, and he's off the growth charts. Definitely no change since August 2010, though.

As the grandmother of 2 toddlers, the lack of booster seats surprises and concerns me. Have many people really had problems getting a booster seat?

We were there in May and had no problem with getting boosters, even at CS.
