Room request questions

So we are 3 weeks away from checking in and have a few questions I'm sorry to ask if the answer is somewhere in these pages or the last thread.

First of all, we were supposed to be there in September in a Royal Room, but changed our travel dates to the end of October, and had to change our room type. Now we are booked with a Garden View and I can't decide between wanting AB or Mansions. I like the murphy bed in AB, even though we only have 4 of us and don't NEED it. Otherwise I like everything about each section, so I can't decide. So... I was thinking of faxing in a request to ask for the most "magical" room and I know we will love what we get. But, I wonder what else I should ask about.

1) is there a floor that is better than the other (ground or higher)? We plan on decorating our window with vinyl clings, so would ground be better for people to see that?

2) we plan on driving majority of our stay, so we would not be concerned with being located near a bus stop, but easy walking to the parking lot. Although we would plan a trip on the boat to DTD at some point.

3) DH has a digestive/bowel disease and we have fairly young kids (9 & 5), so we'd like to be relatively close walking distance to the main pool and main buildings, but not concerning enough we needed to book a preferred room.

4) where again can I find a sample request letter/form in this thread (or I think it was the old thread and couldn't find it).

5) we were planning on checking in around lunchtime on a Sunday, checking out the resort and relaxing. The kids would hit the arcade with DH while I sneak and and go decorate our room with my own "Mickey's Grand Welcome" gifts once the room was ready. Now we are planning on getting to Animal Kingdom in the morning and checking in earlier (about 9am-ish). What can I expect upon check in as far as timing and the room being ready or not. If we leave bags at the resort, where would they be kept while we are at the park waiting on the room to be available?

I think that is all for now. Thanks!

Murphy Beds

We just booked a trip for January. Since we are a family of 5 I am guessing we are in AB. If the murphy bed higher than the beds. In the pictures it looks scary high and I am concerned my 3yo daughter rolling off. Any chance that Disney offers side rail? Suggestions? Maybe we will hit target and buy one.

My 11 and 12 year old boys are probably too big to sleep on the little bed.

I think you've answered most of your own questions already...
Upper floor avoids the possibility of noise from the rooms above, but as you say perhaps not quite so much foot traffic to see your window clings.

Overall, I wouldn't be too specific in your location requests if you're not really sure what you want anyway. Just send a short fax outlining what features you are looking for in a couple of sentences, rather than giving specific buildings/etc. Probably don't make your fax over a page long - someone has to take the time to read it! Personally, I don't really advocate using templated faxes (apart from the basic header info), why not write something personal from you and your family rather than sending something that looks like a carbon copy of everyone else's?

If you're not very fussy about requests (and assuming the resort is not packed) then you will more than likely be allocated a ready room when you check in (even at 9am). If not, they will check you in, give you your room key, and store your bags until you get back - they can even text you when your room is ready.

I honestly wouldn't worry too much, it didn't seem especially high when were used it in August (although it does look worrying in the photos). The mattress can be removed to allow you to add bed rails though if you are concerned. Oh, and my 12 year old (who is fairly tall for her age, 5ft 2.5in at the time) was very comfortable on the murphy bed.

No need to buy one, all WDW resorts offer side rails. You can request them from mousekeeping once you are checked in.

Mine's on the reservation too, but a fax can't hurt.
