Unhappy Lost my job

Found out last week I lost my job after 25 years. Started at the ripe young age of 19.

I'm devestated to say the least. I'm so angry/hurt/sad/disappointed.

They are closing down all my offices in the entire country and my position will now be out of Texas The other 2 people in my office still have their jobs and will work out of their homes.

I do have 7 months to work and I will get a good severance of about 47 weeks pay. But it doesn't make me feel better. I is SO HARD to come into work each day.

I can't believe I have to start over again. And in this economy.

I'm so scared

I am so sorry to hear this. I live in a small area where a plant closed and lots of people were let go. Some waited to look for jobs and it was harder for them to find one. Some of them took the opportunity to go back to school during that time to get a degree in something in order to find a better job.

Think positive and think this through. What would be the best move for you? Were you happy with your job or is there something that you would have rather been doing? Some times you can take something bad like this to actually better yourself. Sending prayers your way.

I am so sorry. I lost my job of 12 years at the end of March. It does stink.

However, like you, I got a little warning (1 month) and was able to have a new job lined up when the old one ended. I was able to bank my severance package. It sounds like you're getting even more warning, so hopefully you'll be able to put some feelers out and line something up for when this job ends. Believe me, I understand how tough it is to go into work every day when you know you've been laid off though. It just *kills* your morale.

I have been there and I know what you're feeling! I'm so sorry this happened to you, but don't let it make you feel bad about yourself. I got laid off two years ago, for the second time in ten years. It's rough, but it has nothing to do with you or your worth - just remember that! You did nothing wrong and shouldn't feel like this is a reflection on you. I cn say from experience, the sooner you start looking and interviewing the better. If you started at 19, you're in your early 40's now, so plenty of time to start fresh! Right now I struggle with the first question i get asked at every interview "why have you been out of work for two years?" Theres no good answer to that, so start looking now and hopefully it all works out!

Boy don't you know it. Last week when I was "getting the news" I looked at my boss and said "from this moment on I have absolutely no loyalty to this company anymore" and then I

I'm so sorry, and I know how you feel. I lost my job at the end of last year. I agree with wdwmomOf3. Take some time to think about what you would like to do in the future.

I'm sorry for what you are going thru.

The same thing happened to me, but I had only worked there 6 years.

A bank came in from PA and bought our one branch bank in 2005.
The beginning of 2011 they send some biggies down (I'm in Fl) for a meeting with all the employees.
We had opened 2 more offices in the 6 years.

They serve pizza and while we are eating, we get "We will be closing the Florida Region down completely on June 30Th"

None of us had any idea. It was awful. Just like you said the hurt/disappointment/feeling of failure.

30 people out of work.

The most hurtful part was that in the press release where they said they were closing the region down, in the next paragraph they wrote how they had a record breaking profitable year in 2010!!!!

I know your pain, just take it one day at a time.
Walk in everyday with your head held high. Don't let "The Man" get you down.
