It may be easier not to have the option of being in the lounge area.

I am glad to hear the chef is more then helpful with FA's. It's good to know they are careful and it sounds like they will be helpful.

I truly appreciate your response!!! Thank you!!

Sorry should of read other post about what you kids allergic to instill think the board walk inn is great. They don't have the uncrustables out but might have other but products but if you talk to them they could put other things out.

Not sure if you have which resort you want but I highly recommend the board walk inn cl. They have couches in front of their tv with a table so you kid can sit and their chairs can handle kids safely plus their staff is very friendly. I was their and a mother and daughter came in first time their went up to one of the cms and told them about their allergies and the cm said no problem I will make sure their something for you. They left to go to the park and the next morning we see them with special made waffles on their table. I think they was Mickey shaped but not sure but the cms came over and asked then if everything was okay and apologized for them taking awhile they made them to order at their restaurant that supply's their food. And they made sure they had gluten free options in all the meals not sure if they let them know ahead of time but they handle it great. So if you or anyone want to try board walk inn you can't go wrong.

In the Poly CL lounge there is an upstairs area that isn't used by many people. I don't recall seeing anybody else up there besides us. You could easily clean the table yourself to be sure that the surface is safe. There is a TV up there as well. You have an unobstructed view of the huge 2 story window facing Magic Kingdom and can watch the fireworks from up there. It would probably be safer to sit up there than down on the main floor of the lounge.

Does the club level at the Polynesian have soy milk available for people with milk allergies/intolerance?

They used to. I assume they still do but we haven't asked since WDW switched to Kikkoman since my kids can't drink that brand. You'll have to ask for it. If they don't have it, they'll order some so it'll be there for you. I'd send an email to the Special Diets department asking that they notify the club level chefs that you're coming. Keep emailing SD until they acknowledge that they sent it. The chefs will also make sure to have some safe snacks for you as well as arranging for safe breakfast foods and safe hot foods in the evening.

We are here at the Polynesian cl. It's a bit disappointing. They were not very prepared to help a child with food allergies. The chef told me I make everything in the back and nothing contains peanuts. He said she can eat everything put out . I said what about the crackers and the corn dogs. He said good question let me check. He said the crackers are kebblers, they should be fine. i asked if they could check the box. He checked and said they are fine. I didn't feel secure enough to take his word. He never offered to make a plate in the back. Then went on to say they had a seafood allergy here last week. The boy had a severe reaction
and was covered in Hives. He admitted the chef said they were fine but didn't check.

Quite a disappointment with Cl. We are here for a few more days, I think I'll bring in food for my daughter. I was hoping the chef's would be as accommodating as all the Disney restaurants we've eaten at. As we talked more with the Chet's it seemed he was still learning the routine. We'll see how breakfast is tomorrow. I'll let you know!!!

We had the same experience with Poly CL. After staying three times, my daughter has requested GF (last year) and BC this year. The other lounges haven't been that accommodating, but have been better about getting us information and a few items (butter, milk, cereal) that DD12 could have. We mainly stay CL, so we have a place for DD12 to have breakfast and snacks that we bring. I don't mind the limited accommodations much, but it's maddening when getting allergy information is met with resistance, apathy, ignorance, or incompetency. I hope things look up for the rest of your CL stay.

Cl lounges are not restaurants they have a small kitchen to hold food and that it they don't make the items their. So when you asking a cm what in a food item they are trying their best to help you. If they not helping you or giving you a hard time then ask to speak to a manager because they are their to help.

I stay at board walk inn I have seen the cms get special food and helping guest get safe food. They don't make the items their they get made at the restaurant on the board walk. I was their in June a mother and diathermy checked in went to the lounge talked to he cm said they was gluten free he got a pad took their names went over things. Offered to being other items out that was more safe they said not they was just looking and wanted them to know for other meals. He thanked them they left the next morning I saw them and they had waffles I knew that because I has to stop my mom thought they was for everyone had to tell her they are for those guest. Another cm came over to their table and asked of everything okay and apologized it took a little while as they made them fresh they was very happy. So it depend on the team because everyone they was their he cms would make sure they was happy. Sorry you had a bad time I would try board walk inn it a Great resort and has a nice lounge with a good amount of cms around to help. I also noticed the manager would do a be around more so not sure if that it but never had a problem or even seen them giving a guest a hard time. If they didn't know the answer they find out for you I asked them what the hot food was and they was able to give a full description of it and I am sure if I needed to know more they would of went out of their way to get the info.

We were there this week too. My DD has multiple food allergies. The CMs have an ingredient book behind the counter. They will let you look at it, just ask them. We have stayed CL at the Poly and the GF, and although not everything is safe, the Poly was much better than the GF. My DD ate the crackers and cheese without problems, as well as the corndogs. There are lots of things that she couldn't eat, but she's 18 and it's just a fact of life for her. At breakfast, they will get safe food for your daughter and definitely ask to see the ingredient book. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your stay.

Just wondering- Did you talk to the IPO office before your visit about what would be there and what your needs are?

I asked the Yacht Club IPO questions last winter in advance of our trip this year and they told me to give more specifics and ask more questions within the month before our trip if we had requests. Then to talk to the manager when we arrived. I'm wondering how confident I should feel or if you did the same.

I'm disappointed to hear that about Poly CL. My favourite chef from there I think works a lot more at SoA than in the lounge these days and I think only does maybe one or two shifts per week in the lounge now. There was one guy who was there during one of our trips who wasn't nearly as good. Things didn't get ordered in for us until the other chef came to the lounge half way through our trip. Every other chef we've worked with though has been amazing. I suspect you got that one guy. His attitude is scary. Even the one guy I wasn't as happy with at least brought food prepared safe for us in the kitchen. If we wanted something not specially prepared (fruit, soy milk, gluten free muffins, etc) then we would just ask one of the lounge CMs to get it from the kitchen and they always got it for us. If they were running low on something they'd let the chef know so it could be replenished in the lounge kitchen before they ran out.

My experience with Poly IPO was that they were useless. Before our first CL stay they sent me a link to Garden Grocer telling me they couldn't accomodate our allergies and that we needed to get our own food. According to the chefs I've spoken with in the lounge, they usually get notified by Special Diets if they've got somebody coming in with allergies that they know of. I'd recommend asking Special Diets to contact the resort to find out just what offerings will be available and at a minimum (after asking a few times) you should be able to at least get an email confirming that they know you're coming. Maybe they've gotten better though. This was a few years ago.

Here's my review of the Polynesian club level for people with peanut/treenut allergies. I was concerned for my dd the 1st night I was there, but our days there on a whole was a positive experience. My daughter never had a reaction there, or anywhere else on Disney Property. Of the 5 nights we were there they only served peanut butter and jelly once as an appetizer. I'm not sure if it was coincidence or if the realized since there was a child there with a severe pa they would offer something else. Either way it was really nice not to have to worry about cross contamination.

I met a lady on the 1st night who had a soy allergy. She loves Disney because they are so careful. She also only stays at the Polynesian Club level because they are so helpful. The chef came over and talked to her and I and it seemed like we were all on the same page. The 2nd night we were there, the chef said they prepared something special for my daughter. They were extremely accommodating. One lady who worked there in the morning was very helpful, she would always provide the cereal from the back. During the day the cereal, goldfish, crackers and Enjoy Cookies all came from the back.

My daughter amazes me, at the club they offer pastries for breakfast and beautiful desserts at night and she was very content with the nut free snacks they offered her from the back. As long as she knew there was something safe for her to eat she was happy.. We came home yesterday and my daughter said one thing she loves about Disney is everyone knows she has a peanut allergy. She also said she loved the Polynesian club level because they always had something for her to eat and she loved the Enjoy life cookie!! I was concerned about staying there in the beginning but I know now I would stay there again!!
