Disembarking

How late can you stay on the ship when the cruise is over? We're on the Fantasy. I see it docks at 7:45 AM. I am very much a night owl and the thought of being pressed, dressed, and ready to go at 7:45 on vacation is horrifying. Can we get off at 8:30? How about 9:00? If it were up to me, noon sounds good, but I know they need to turn the rooms around for the next cruise group.

It docks well before 7:30, but is normally cleared by Customs and ready for guest departure by 7:30. DCL asks that everyone be out of their stateroom (including all luggage) by 8:00 and off the ship by 9:00. About 9:15, they start gently but firmly encouraging any stragglers toward the door.

Ha, my family is worse, lol. Out of the rooms by 8:00? I think I might enjoy this since I'm the only early bird in the house. They consider 10:00 to be extremely early.

If you have early dining, you need to be at breakfast at 6:45 and then off the ship as soon as breakfast is done.

If you have late dining, you need to be at breakfast at 8 am and then off of the ship as soon as you are done.

The only thing that could cause a delay is not clearing customs, but in 3 cruises, we have always been cleared around 7 am.

The Fantasy wanted everyone out of the staterooms by 8 and off the ship by 9. They have to turn the ship around for the next boarding at 11 something. You don't need to go to the breakfast in the dining room.

Noon sounds good to me too, but any time is too early to end a Disney cruise. Heading over to WDW helps ease the pain.

These are the scheduled breakfast times, but you do not have to go to your scheduled breakfast. You have the option of eating at one of the pool deck outlets. There is no room service (except in concierge) on the last morning.

While you do not have to go to breakfast at the scheduled time, you do still need to be out of the stateroom by 8 and off the ship by 9. It's not a joke--they need you out in order to get ready for the incoming passengers.

Is early vs. late breakfast dining determined by your evening dining seating or can they be separate? We have early dining as we're early dinner eaters but 6:45 AM is WAY too early for my family when we're on vacation. We're one of those always bumping up against 11:00 AM check-out times. (We'll be sure to be out of our stateroom by 8:00 AM.)

Your breakfast seating on the last morning (this is the only morning you have an assigned breakfast) is based on your dinner seating. Early dinner = early breakfast.

You can talk to your head server in advance (like the night before) and see whether he will be able to seat you at the opposite time if that works for you--he is often aware of guests who will not be coming to breakfast because of flight times, etc. You also have the option of eating at the pool deck buffet at a time that suits you. Serving there ends at 8:30.

It is tied to your dinner rotation (both in restaurant and time). However, you could do the buffet instead....

Your last morning breakfast (early or late) is tied to you dining time (early or late). If you don't want to have breakfast at you assigned time the buffet restaurant on the pool deck ( Cabanas, Beach Blanket,Topsider) is open the last morning.

Also it's very hard to sleep late the last morning. It's very LOUD. They make announcements over the PA. Everyone is out in the hall ways, doors are slamming. So it's up and out that last morning.

They stop serving food at the buffets at 8:30am, but you can still sit and eat until 9am.

We have late dining, but I will happily forgo breakfast for a few minutes more sleep. My screen name is not just because I like the dwarves. When I was in college there were 7 of us who were good friends and we decided to call ourselves the dwarves. Small step to assigning names. Me as Sleepy was the obviously choice.

BTW, Dopey and Doc are still my best friends 32 years later.

I'll second Weedy's comment. The PA is so stinking OBNOXIOUS it is impossible to really get back to sleep for very long, even if you are in the second breakfast. Love my Disney cruise, hate the early disembarkation hour.
