Disney Wonder in San Francisco?

Hello,

Does anyone know why the Disney Wonder was in San Francisco yesterday? I haven't followed it lately, but I didn't know it was on the West coast.

My husband was in San Fran and saw the ship at the wharf.

They are doing a series of California Coastal cruises. San Francisco was a scheduled port stop. I think she is still there today.

The fact that people didn't know that the Wonder was in San Francisco bears witness to the utter failure of the marketing for the West Coast Cruises. I firmly believe that DCL didn't do so well because Californians largely didn't know they were even here.

agree

This is the Truth, The West Coast sailings were sooooo poorly marketed to California and their feeder markets. DCL lost money and thats why they pulled out, plus the "violence" in Mexico I was luck enough to be able to do 2 west coast cruises to mexico and absolutely loved them.

Yeah, their marketing was terrible. I found a coupon code on the DL annual passholder site while planning a DL trip. We are going on the Oct 7th sailing.

These cruises were only 2K for 4 people in an inside room and they still couldn't sell them. Pathetic marketing.

All I know is that I got a Smokin' deal for our cruise next month.

And I am just crying that the Wonder will be leaving us.

Why is this? Is it because DCL is based on the east coast?

I don't know that we will know why. We were so excited when we heard the Wonder was coming our way. I would think that with the low level of other cruises leaving from San Pedro and Long Beach that Disney would have caught like a house on fire.

I suppose that the Mexican drug lords have something to do with it, but Carnival is still doing their booze cruises.

I was referring to marketing actually. Why didn't they market these?

Most likely just short sighted thinking. DCL did well in its first forays to CA. But that was among the faithful. Once that wave was over they needed to market to new customers. They didn't.

Hahahahaha! I hate Duffy.

I think the drug lords is one reason why Disney didn't market too highly. When a lot of the bag stuff was happening, someone could have thought that it was a bad idea to bring attention to that area. But what do I know? Duffy is really dumb idea and marketing is still pushing that here.

I love when that happens.

I can tell you that in all the few years that the Wonder was here, I saw TWO billboards for them.

Two. In all of Los Angeles. One was on the 710 on the way to Long Beach, where many people would be driving to get to other cruise ships. The other was on the 405 just past Marina del Rey heading South.
