According to FB, I'm the only parent who didn't take her kid to...

the KISS concert last night. And as much as I loved KISS when I was nine, I'm not sorry!!!!

I'm not aware of any of my children's friends who like KISS.

That's ok.....my daughter informed me last week that she's the ONLY 6th grader in our whole town that doesn't have a cell phone! I guess our "Mother of the Year" title will be revoked this year!

I don't think my kids like KISS all that much but they actually love going to all those old 80s/90s bands concerts. My kid has been to U2, Springsteen, and some other smaller venue things at the House of Blues. I took them to Lollapalooza too. I guess I don't get the problem?

Why is parenting always presented as such a competition?

I'd take them to U2 and Bruce in a heartbeat. Or at least I'd go!

Who said this was a problem, btw?

When I drink I find its easier to watch my children because I see all 3 of them double, so all 6 of them of them take all my attention

I'd think the problem was more that they were out late on a Sunday night before school, not who they were seeing in concert. Is that right OP?

No….I was just surprised how many people my age were still going to see KISS…and taking junior high age kids with them. I figured some would have said "Yeah, I don't think so Mom" Would have been like me going to see Cher with my mother.

I took my high schooler to see Kiss last year or the year before, just as something to do even though none of us are huge Kiss fans. Even though he's been to lots of concerts that I thought he would like better, he still ranks Kiss as the best concert he's seen. It's funny because he rarely listens to Kiss but he loved that concert. I suspect it's because it's the first one he went to that had lots of effects and pyrotechnics. Most of the others ones he has been to weren't nearly as theatrical as Kiss was.

I would have went but they played here a couple of weeks ago on a Tues night.

I never saw them and I would go. Why not?

Don't get me wrong, it would be entertaining. I guess because I kept my love for certain KISS songs closeted, I'm surprised how many friends of mine were openingly going. At the same time, I didn't go to a concert until I was fifteen so I'm always surprised when young kids go. Although middle school seems right, my youngest daughter has friends that have all been going to concerts since they were six. I'm still not used to it.

Shoot, who can afford for the family to go to concerts nowadays? The cost is so high concerts aren't even on my radar anymore. I'm even having to give up on Broadway South touring shows.

I am going to a free concert on Sat night. It is a LED ZEPP tribute band.
