Barb- the storms were terrible here, but once in awhile I'd pop on this thread via my phone and look at the yummy food. It was a spirit lifter while we were in the dark (literally). Most of the food from our fridge/freezer had to get tossed, and you know how much I love my food!

We had some damage to the property and will need to put a new roof on the house, but I'm hoping insurance will cover the bulk of the expenses.

Candice and her DH also stopped by the F & W Festival for lunch yesterday.

Here is what they tried...

From Desserts & Champagne: Nesquick Frozen Strawberry Foam

Candice said, "This was just alright, wasn't really frozen."

From Australia: Shrimp on the Barbie with Pepper Berry Citrus Glaze

Candice said, "The sauce was good, flavourful."

From Scandinavia: Rice Pudding with Driscoll's® Only The Finest Berries"

Candice said, "I didn't like the texture, took some getting used to but it wasn't bad."

From South Korea: Chung Ha Soju Fruit Slushy

Candice said, "It didn't have much of a fruit taste, but it was refreshing."

From South Africa: Seared Filet of Beef with smashed Sweet Potatoes and Braai Sauce

Candice said, "The filet itself was good but the sweet potato wasn't to our taste. It was a small portion but we couldn't finish it."

From Italy: Cannoli al Cioccolato
(Chocolate Covered Cannoli Shell Filled with Sweet Ricotta Cheese, Chocolate, and Candied Fruit)

Candice said, "Very good but pricey for the small portion. I would get it again if the line wasn't too long."

And then a non-F & W Fest booth snack...

From the permanent kiosk in Japan: Kaki Gori

Candice said, "This was nicely sweet and refreshing but it was huge!! We added some sweet milk to it to add flavor."

Let's see that's 5 new booths visited (South Korea a repeat) = 5 points + 1 bonus point for the Scandinavia rice pudding + 1 point for the Kaki Gori

Vicki and Andrew had lunch at the Food & Wine Festival today.

Here is what they tried this time...

From Mexico: Taco de Filete with Cascabel Pepper Sauce and Scallions Served on a Flour Tortilla

From Scandinavia: Swedish Meatballs with Lingonberries
& Rice Pudding with Driscoll's® Only The Finest Berries™

From China: Mongolian Beef with Chinese Steamed Bun
& Pork Pot Stickers
& Mango Tapioca Pudding

From Germany: Schinken Nudel (Pasta Gratin with Ham and Cheese)

Vicki said, "This dish was incredible. One of the best things we have tried."

From Italy: Ravioli Di Formaggio all'Emiliana (Baked Cheese Ravioli with Creamy Beef Bolognese Sauce, Parmesan Cheese, and Mozzarella)
& Salsiccia e "Papacelli" Napoletani (Sweet Sausage, Red Pepper, Ciabatta Bread)

Vicki said, "The sausage was really good. The ravioli, not so much. It may actually be the worst thing I have tried. It was very flat. Not much flavor."

From Japan: Karaage Hand Roll (Crispy Chicken Breast with Sushi Rice and Spicy Mayonnaise)

Let's see, that's 6 new booths visited = 6 points + 6 bonus points for the taco, rice pudding, mango tapioca pudding, schinken nudel, ravioli, and karaage roll

Today is Roma & Mr. Roma's One Year Wedding Anniversary...they were married on 11-11-11.

They began their special day by heading over to the Contemporary Resort to have breakfast at...

Chef Mickey's

Roma said, "This was Mr. Roma's choice. Here is my carb laden plate. The only thing I didn't like was the cheese blintz...that thing was flavorless."

Then they spent the rest of the morning touring the monorail resorts before heading back to their resort, now the Beach Club, to spend the afternoon at Stormalong Bay.

Their lunch from the Beach Club Marketplace was eaten poolside...

Turkey Sandwich with bacon, brie, and cranberry spread & housemade chips

Roma said, "Mr. Roma and I both thought this was an excellent sandwich. We got it hot, but it can be served cold. The chips were crunchy and full of flavor. The Marketplace is small but what they do serve is prepared well."

I also received this update from our other reporter, Cyndi (cyndiloveswalt)...

Cyndi said, "Sorry we've been kind of MIA today. We ate breakfast in the room and did Pizza Planet for lunch, but everyone was so hungry that I forgot to take pics. We all had pizzas and Caesar salads, which were fresh and tasty...especially the salad.

We shared Mickey-shaped pretzels for a snack while we enjoyed the Osborne Lights!"

Be our Guest

As a preview to her Dining Review, Vicki sent this pic...

French Onion Soup topped with croutons and gruyere cheese

I asked Vicki how this compared to the soup at Chefs de France.

Her reply, "Chefs is better but this is good."

Roma & her DH had their Anniversary dinner tonight at...

California Grill

As a preview to her Dining Review, Roma sent this pic...

Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Goat Cheese Polenta, Roasted Mushrooms, Zinfandel Glaze, and Sage

Roma said, "We were seated at a table overlooking the Magic Kingdom about 30 minutes before Wishes. Unfortunately they brought our food out right when Wishes began, so our food got a bit cold. However, it was still very good. I had the pork tenderloin, which was very tender and paired perfectly with the polenta."

As I had told you yesterday, chocolateMinnie (a former live reporter from the UK) had problems with the internet during her recent trip to Disney World. I received her first two emailed updates without any problem, but then the rest were only partial (missing several pictures) or didn't come through to me at all. Now that chocolateMinnie is at home, she was able to email me all the missing pictures and updates. So here is her trip info and dining schedule:

chocolateMinnie & family were at Disney World from 10/27 - 11/3 and stayed at the Beach Club Resort.

Dining Schedule - with links

Saturday - 27th
Dinner at Liberty Inn (highlighted by the steak, which many of us didn't realize they served)

Sunday - 28th
Breakfast from Boardwalk Bakery
Lunch at Casey's Corner
Dinner at Le Cellier

Monday - 29th
Breakfast at Kouzzina
Early Dinner at Crystal Palace

Tuesday - 30th
Breakfast at Captain's Grille
Counter Service at Seaworld - no pics
Dinner at F & W Festival - no pics
Celebration Mini-Cake

Wednesday - 31st
Breakfast at Akershus for chocolateMinnie & DD
Breakfast at Beach Club Marketplace for DH & DS
Dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse

Thursday - 1st November
Lunch at Sunshine Seasons
Dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe

Friday - 2nd
Lunch at Pecos Bill
Dinner at F&W Fest - no pics

Saturday - 3rd
Breakfast at Cape May Cafe
Lunch at Boulangerie Patisserie/Kringla Bakeri og Cafe

Okay, I think that is correct but please let me know if I have any errors or omissions, chocolateMinnie. I've already linked the first few updates which were complete. The rest I will add links as I get the update posted.

On Sunday, Oct. 28, chocolateMinnie & family had dinner at...

Le Cellier

DS's Strawberry Milkshake

“Le Cellier” Mushroom Filet Mignon
8-oz AAA Canadian Beef Tenderloin with Wild Mushroom Risotto, White Truffle-Butter Sauce, and Micro Chervil

Grilled Bone-In Rib-Eye
18 to 20-oz Bone-In Rib-Eye with Herb-Parmesan with Potato Wedges and Roasted Garlic Butter

Lamb Rack with French Fries (subbed side)

Canadian “Prime” New York Strip
12-oz Strip Steak with Potato Pavé, Wilted Spinach, and Vin Rouge Reduction

chocolateMinnie said, "It was as delicious as ever and we had an amazing meal. Unfortunately for the diner before us, the server dropped a large drink over her - Yikes!

DS had the rib-eye, DH had the NY strip, DD had the rack of lamb and I had the Mushroom filet. All delicious. Interestingly on this trip we were told categorically that all entrees will only be served either with the advertised side order or fries, no other substitutions are available. Would we return? Definitely!

For dessert DD had her usual ice-cream, DS the white chocolate cheesecake which looked amazing, DH had the cucumber, melon and mint sorbet and I stayed with my usual maple creme brulee."

Cheesecake with White Chocolate and fresh Seasonal Berries on a Citrus Shortbread Cookie

Vanilla Ice Cream

Seasonal Sorbet - Cucumber, Melon, & Mint

Maple Crème Brûlée

On Monday, October 29th, chocolateMinnie & family had breakfast at...

Kouzzina

Classic Golden Waffle - With Whipped Mascarpone Cheese, Honey, chopped Pecans (served on the side) and Bacon

American - Two Eggs (scrambled) with Breakfast Potatoes, choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage and toast

Stacked Kouzzina Breakfast - Two Poached Eggs, Kalamata Olive Toast, Artichoke Spread, Sweet Potato Hash, and Bacon

Seasonal Fruit Bowl

chocolateMinnie said, "We paid OOP for this one. We shared a fruit bowl. Unfortunately the kids attacked this before I took the photo. DD had the waffle with the topping on the side and bacon. DS had the American breakfast. DH and i had the Kouzzina stacked breakfast. Also had the pressed pot of coffee, cranberry juice, green tea and water. The American breakfast looked ok but nothing special. Our stacked Greek breakfast however was awesome...would definitely return for that alone. Fantastic food and amazing service!"

On Tuesday, October 30th, chocolateMinnie & family had the buffet breakfast at the Yacht Club's...

Captain's Grille

chocolateMinnie sent these pics from their breakfast...

chocolateMinnie said, "One of our most enjoyed buffet breakfasts ever at WDW - would highly recommend it. The tomatoes were filled with some type of blue cheese mixture. I adored them and I don't even like blue cheese.

Wish we would have gone here again but we didn't get the chance. It was also the cheapest buffet of our stay (we paid oop) and was very, very quiet at 7.30am.

No pictures of lunch or dinner on Tuesday as we went to Seaworld. Our counter service there was way more $$$ than at WDW and worse quality, but we did enjoy the park and the Dolphin Up close tour. That evening we did the Food and Wine Festival but I'm afraid I didn't take photos."

Our first update of the day was emailed to us by Candice (Candycane83).

She and her DH had dinner last night at the Contemporary Resort's Signature Restaurant...

California Grill

Triple Cheese Flatbread with Pecorino, Asiago, and Provolone, Sun-dried Tomato, and Arugula Pesto

Spicy Kazan Roll with Crab, Shrimp, Scallops, Tuna, and Fireball Sauce

Yoshie’s Deluxe Sushi Platter with Maki and Nigiri

Candice said, "We loved the sushi, especially the spicy Kazan roll. The flat bread was ok. I was thinking we should have ordered just the sushi because we were too full to finish everything. On another note, the service was really good though."
