There are 2 cards..one credit, one debit. At any time you can go in with a blank check and get a debit card if you choose. Many people have the credit because the debit is "newer" and when they hear the Red Card spiel they think there is only 1 card (credit).

Hmmm....makes me think I might have to look into the Target debit card.

I have a Nordstrom debit card, although I have not used it much recently, when I worked there, I used it all the time and never ever had problems. There customer service people for the card are wonderful too - Nordstrom owns it own bank, so therefor you deal with Nordstrom people if you have issues.

I too recently got the Target debit card. I do most of my shopping at Target and usually use my regular debit card, so it made sense for me to get the Target card and save an extra 5%. I actually got it the day I bought my new camera, so that 5% was great. Mine seems to come out of my account right away, or the next business day. I've had no problems with it at all.

I have the credit card. Since we pay it off in full every month there's never interest or fees. It seems easier than keeping track of all the debits, but that's just me. I know some people like to live on a cash only type basis.

Thanks for the replies everyone!! I didn't realize it was so popular. I think I might go ahead and get one. I always use my debit card for purchases at Target (and most other places too), so I might as well save 5%.

Dumb question.. Can you only use the Target debit card at Target? Or can you use it anywhere like a regular debit card?

Only at Target. It is not branded with a major logo like Visa/Mastercard/Amex/Discover so it can only be used there (their credit card on the other hand is Visa and I believe can be used anywhere).
