Plans are Nothing; Planning is Everything. A Newbie's PTR
A trip somewhere we've never been + a neurotic over-planner = months of exhaustive research, note-taking, list-making, schedule planning, purchasing, reserving, etc, etc...
Ahhhh.... neurotic over-planner heaven

DH, 33. DS, 5.
I'm a SAHM and DH works as a counselor at an in-patient facility for pregnant and post-partum women.
What: Our first trip to DLR!
Where: Hojo, NQQ1
Why: We've had a looong couple of years. Two Hyperemesis Gravidarum pregnancies, kidney failure/dialysis/transplant, DH going back to school for an RN while working full-time (health insurance takes on a *whole* 'nother level of importance after a transplant) and we need a BREAK! DH doesn't actually graduate until March, but I'm a Christmas nut and would rather go for the holidays. Plus, that's sooner
How: After debating driving vs. amtrak vs. flying, we decided driving was to iffy that time of year and with the train often running very late that flying would be the way to go. Our last flying experience was AWFUL, so a lot of effort is going to go into making this one smoother. It being direct is probably half the battle. We're flying Jetblue for the first time, DS is super excited about the TVs, lol.
Well, the kids are in bed asleep and I have a few precious moments to myself before DD's first night waking....off to enjoy them lurking about the Dis

Less than 100 days to go
Whenever I buy something I always scour the internets in search of personal reviews and photos, and I figure I'll do the same in return.
Some of our luggage is starting to look a little worse for the wear and part of our last terrible flying experience had to do with luggage so I figure it's time to start replacing it... Last time we flew we took the regular roll-aboards everyone has (the two wheel variety) and with the carseat strapped to the top they kept tilting and would twist and have to be set right again (very difficult while also trying to keep hold of a toddler) so we initially thought we would try out the newer 4 wheel style. Then I thought about it, and even if they function better, they're still going to require a hand to pull it and with 2 kids, 2 carseats, the stroller, and all the "regular" stuff that comes with travel we're running short on hands. So I started looking at convertible luggage, and by far the eBags Mother Lode TLS seems to be recommended as the best bang for your buck. It retails for $99.99, I used a 30% coupon and paid $69.99 and received free 2 day shipping with Shop Runner. It's a pretty well made bag, at this price point it's an awesome deal.
I apologize for the rumpled looking bed. I washed the duvet cover yesterday and wrestled the comforter back in by myself (king sized) and it always seems to take a few days to smooth itself out.
The bag was shipped flat and has very little structure to its sides.

Bottle holder, zips into its own pocket when not in use.

Front organizer panel and pocket. This pocket is deep, you could fit quite a bit in here.

Top pocket. This pocket "borrows" space from the organizer panel/pocket space. Perfect pocket to stick your 3-1-1 bag for quick access and to further limit spills reaching other items.

Laptop pocket. Has an internal sling/harness to keep your laptop securely positioned and off the ground when setting the bag down.

Back with the straps stowed.

Straps out. There are additional straps you can clip on to use as a hip belt.

Lower handle, I love when bags have these - very helpful when removing the bag from overhead storage.

Interior. Has a divider (can be un-clipped and laid flat) to keep loads from shifting.

The interior compression straps can be fed through an extra loop to keep them from squishing the edges of your clothes, keeping a more 'square' shape.

I find clothing comparisons not very useful. I mean, a 5 foot, size 2 woman is going to be able to fit a LOT more in her suitcase than a 6'2" 250# man. So towels seem pretty standard, lol, and these are regular bath towels - not sheets. Eight fit very easily.

Undoing the expandable zipper allowed me to get in another 4 for a total of 12. Pretty full but still lots of room in the front pocket.

We haven't used them yet, so no review on that. But I wanted to put the pictures out there for anyone considering one

I love planning obsession, lol! This is great! Love the details. We'll be going in about 3 months for our first time in three years and I'm about to go into full planning mode. I'm almost there.
Would love to hear more about your plans/planning!
