Harmony Barbershop color, glitter, etc.

One of the things I'm really excited to do on our upcoming trip is getting DD's first haircut at the Harmony Barbershop. I've read about the gel color and the glitter and I'm fine with that. In fact, I'm going to make reservations for all of my kids because I figure once they see the little one getting the color and glitter they'll all want to do it too. Anyway, I'm wondering if we should skip it if it turns out to be a rainy day (the color, not the haircuts) or if it will hold up to some rain. Also, if we don't wash it the first night, will it still look good the next day? Are you able to brush it with the color in it or is it sticky? Will they leave a trail of glitter/confetti everywhere (that's not a deal breaker; I just want to be prepared)? I'm probably nuts but this is one of the things I'm most excited about for our trip. I've been holding off on DD's first haircut for months because of this.

Let me preface this by saying I read not too long ago that they were no longer using the colored hair gel (products were discontinued or something). So maybe someone who has been there recently can let you know whether it is even an option at the moment. Of course the haircut would be great, no matter what!

My girls got the gel/glitter without haircuts in April. It was fantastic! One girl got a ponytail, the other got pigtails, and they each got to pick out two colors of hair gel (pink/purple and blue/green). It did not rain that day, so I don't know how it would hold up. I'm sure they did leave a trail of confetti, but it wasn't that bad.

And the gel takes a while to dry, so try not to touch it until it gets "hard." DD7 hugged DH and left a bit of color on his shirt. So if she's in a stroller, you might want a towel or something covering the back/headrest for a bit.

It really seems like a "one day" thing to me. I'd imagine it would leave a mess on the pillow, and I don't think you could get a brush through it! When we got back to our resort, I asked at the front desk for an extra bottle of shampoo. She took one look at the girls and said she'd send up a couple. Housekeeping arrived about 15 minutes later with 8 bottles of shampoo and 4 bars of soap. I washed out pretty easily, though.

The girls got tons of attention all day. Even more than when they've done BBB in the past, I think because princesses are a dime a dozen. If it's available, I'd definitely say go for it!

Since you mentioned it I Googled it and it looks like they're not doing the colored gel and don't expect to start again.

That being said... I still want to get DD's first haircut there since this will be the only opportunity for one of my kids to get their first haircut at Disney. I'll probably also make reservations for my other kids. One, maybe two won't care, but one will definitely want to do it. I'm a little hesitant about the glitter because in some of the pictures I've seen it looks kind of tacky. I'll let them do it because it's temporary and it's fun and hopefully it will look better IRL. Don't get me wrong... Some of the pictures are really cute, but in others it looks overdone. I'm kind of wondering what it will look like on my 2 year old because she has very fine hair and not that much of it. She needs a haircut because it's getting in her eyes and it's kind of shaggy, not because she has that much hair. I'm afraid the gel will just weigh it down too much. Has anyone taken a toddler who doesn't have that much hair? How did it come out?
