Wishes Dessert Party

Are the Wishes Dessert Party's worth considering adding to the trip itinerary. The pictures of all the sweets look amazing. But I'm a little concern about how good the viewing area for the show is from the terrace.

We went to the dessert party for the first time in Jan. and really loved it!! Our reservations were for an hour before the fireworks, so we had a very relaxing evening. We never felt rushed and since they have a limited amount of space, we didn't feel crowded. The desserts were very good with many things to choose from. The view is fantastic and Tinker Bell soars by pretty close!! Most everyone stands at the rail to watch, so those sitting at their table can't see very well. The view for the parade from there is not very good. Overall, we loved it and would definitely do it again. You feel as though you are at a private viewing!!

We did this in August. It's sort of expensive but I thought it was worth it. The viewing area is great. We could have stayed in our seats (we were near the front) but decided to go up to the railing. We were even able to see MSEP too. Not like being up close, but we could see it. I would do it again.

What is worth it to some is not worth it to another, but for us, it is a no brainer. Like almost every dining option in WDW, yes, it is overpriced for the quality food you get.

But, you have a reserved table to sit and relax, you own private photopass photographer for the party, no need to stake out a spot, decent dessert options, and all for about $50, it's a slam dunk for us.

For some people, spending $50 is ridiculous.

We're excited about our first dessert party.....can't wait. I figure even if it's not the best thing in the world....we should try it at least once . I've heard it's wonderful though....so I'm sure we won't be disappointed.

I was just contemplating this myself.

We have the dining plan and ADR's that night... so dessert is already paid for and avail.

the location, a guaranteed spot to view the fireworks and just a new experience is luring me in too...

Our Ratings of Wishes Dessert Party: (7/15/2012)
. . . food price value: D
. . . food quality: B
. . . food quantity per serving: C
. . . food prep speed: A
. . . food selection: B
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff attentiveness: C
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: The Dessert Party is held at MK and has a buffet of desserts.
The overwhelming reason people go is for a good view of Wishes. If you
have a seat near the railing, the view is excellent from your table. If not,
you must get up and stand for a view. When standing, you can get a view
that can be the same or worse than standing at The Hub for free. Nighttime
parade viewing is not very good, as it is not a good angle. The desserts
are good and are varied, but it is not an endless buffet and they do run
out of food. In some cases, you do not have a chance for a second helping
of many of the items. Overall, it does have good desserts, but many people
feel it is simply far overpriced at $25-$27, as do we.

Reservations usually open up about two months in advance. Subscribe to this thread with email notification: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2699362 and you'll likely be notified the day ADR opens for the month you are going.

We thought the view worked well. It's at a bit of an angle so the Castle is not squarely in the center of your the fireworks view like it is if you were viewing it from the Hub. But, if you've ever watched Wishes from the Tomorrowland Bridge, it's pretty much the same angle. Never felt like the view was too removed.

The tables are already assigned when they open. There are tables that are in the back side of the terrace that I believe gives a slightly obstructed view due to the ceiling (we were seated at a table up front by the railing). People at those tables usually move up to the railings to watch. But even so, there's plenty of space for everyone.

They have photopass photog stationed inside the terrace which is a nice touch.

We found it difficult to see MSEP - didn't really expect to anyway. You can see the top halves of the floats and the music isn't piped in so not an ideal viewing area for MSEP.

I think it was definitely worth the money especially if you are going during moderate to high crowd levels. Even if you're going during low crowds, having a table and a place to sit and relax is still a plus especially if you have young children.

Is the price in the $25-27 mark for January? The dining reservation website has a wide range ($15-39.95, and I think this is excl tax) and I would be interested to know the price for when we will be there (Jan 2013)
