Please settle a debate between my boys, age 15.5 & 12. Ds15 says MTV is stupid and can't stand it. Ds12 says every "normal" teen loves MTV therefore ds15 must not be normal. This argument made a long car ride feel twice as long so I told them I'd ask here.

I'm old enough to remember before MTV existed and it sure has changed a LOT since the days of playing music videos.

Of course, they don't care what I think.

Anyway, what do you think of it?

I don't watch MTV. I'm 14 and I just don't like it at all. The music has gone downhill and the music videos can be really innappropriate. But this is coming from someone who listens to mainly Elvis Presley so I don't know how reliable a source I am.

ETA: See, I didn't even know that MTV shows mostly reality shows now. That's how out of touch I am with this stuff.

17 years old here. MTV is almost all reality shows, so it's not really high quality or music-based, therefore I and most teenagers I know don't watch it. That being said, I guess if someone likes that programming, they would watch it. YMMV, I guess, though in my experience, it's not terribly popular with teens.

13.5 and watch it occasionally. Depends on the show. Coming from someone whos mom worked for MTV for 20 years, it has really gone downhill. Its barely even "Music Television" anymore. Don't know how helpful I'm being

I'm 17 and I have no interest in it at all.. Drama and reality TV is just not appealing. I don't see how anybody could watch something like Jersey Shore.. Just my 2 cents haha

Oh I know what you mean. The worst part is that most of the cast is from New York, not even NJ. I've never seen anyone at the Jersey Shore behaving like they do. It's offensive & embarrassing for all of us.

I can't believe how rich they're getting by acting like that while police/fireman struggle to pay their bills.
