The real question is what Does the average family spend on a WDW vacation. I would love to see a poll on that one.

I'm a little over the $2,000 but not by much and I'd pick to go at the end of January so there would probably be FD or a RO that would bring me under $2,000...but, assuming no discount and I only had $2,000 I'd do the following:

End of January
5 nights
POFQ - King bed
4 day of park tickets (no hopper)
DDP

Total: $2,172.34

Again, if history is any indication there would probably be FD and my total would come down to about $1,800!! If not I'd search under couch cushions and under car seats until I found the $172.34!!

Also, I didn't include travel costs to and from Disney so my budget is still kind of cheating

So, we don't need to include transportation in that $2k? If not, then that is great, bc airfare would take a big chunk of that! Also, is this $2k out own money or did we win it in Disney gift cards? That factor would actually affect how I spend that money. Am I thinking too much about this?

You must use rack rates.

The rule follower that I am....

1/21/13-1/24/13
2 Adults
DAKL Standard room CL
4 day base tickets

$1968.60

I wouldn't ever pay rack rates IRL though

I just got back. 7 nights at Pop, 5 day tix, free dining costed me $1287 for 2. Gas was less than $150 (I live in Alabama). Spent about $80 on souveniers for nieces and nephews. Comes to a little over $1500.

Next yr we're staying in AoA LM room. Hoping for free dining. Think price was around $1350. Next year will be lots more on souveniers bc Neices and nephews are going with us and I like to spoil them. )

HOWEVER! She didn't say to include transportation costs in that $2k, so if she has to pay for plane tickets or a lot of gas money and a hotel on the way, none of those plans will work!

Here is my plan (No transportation included)

Trip #1
2 adults/ 1 child (age 7)
4 nights at at CB
3-day base tickets

Total: $1585.81

The rest would be left for food- OOP.

Trip #2
2 adults/ 1 child (age 7)
4 Nights in a perferred room at AoA/ LM room
3-day base tickets
3 tickets to the Christmas Party
DP w/ 1 QS, 1 TS

Total: $1998.48

$2000 wouldn't cover our airfare.

So, for 2 adults, May 16-21, 2013 (for a Star Wars Weekend!):

5 nights, AOA Little Mermaid room
6 day MYW tickets with Water Parks & more option
Quick service dining plan

$1856.80 (transportation costs not included!)

Not terrible...you could cut it more if you had to (drop WPM, drop dining, etc.) - thought QSDP would be good for the tasty looking food court at AoA!

Maybe you can. $1833 for 4, booking way ahead to next Aug on United. The lowest fares seem to be just after they are released.

We now return you to your original program.

Would they allow us to pitch a tent in the parking lot, do you think?

Ooh, this is fun!

1 adult, staying 1-8 November 2012

8 nights at POP in a standard room with QSDP and 7-day MYW with park hopper.
$1,541.82

That's really cheap, actually.

10 nights with MYW + park hopper tickets and the QSDP is $2,026!
