Major Disney internet outage? - The DIS Discussion Forums

Weird...I can't get to any ESPN or Disney web sites...everything else seems fine...

Update: They just came back up...

Maybe the deployment of the new IPhone 5 has clogged up the network. (J/K)

I'm able to get to those sites fine. What you may have experienced is a slight routing problem by your ISP or an ISP that is downstream. It can happen from time to time with different ISPs to different IP addresses or domains. As awesome as the Internet is its not perfect all the time.

I'm an IT consultant. I've been mucking with the Internet for 26 years now

This appeared to be more widespread than a ISP routing issue, as I found a number of reports on Twitter. But within a couple minutes of my posting, they were back up.

They do seem to be at the same datacenter though...could have been a DC issue.

Hmmmmm. I still cannot access any disney site, not even the store

It has been down. The booking portion is still down. You can click on reservations, but eventually you get the "we're currently updating our systems message."
It looks and functions like it usually does when they have one of their planned extended outages and are gradually coming back up.

I can reach it, but all I get is a string of characters that looks like a session ID. Application must be down.

Something I'd expect if this was a large-scale datacenter outage, and they are bringing servers back up. But those should be rare.

Then again, I'm not impressed by Disney's IT operations anyways

An ESPN podcast producer I follow on twitter said that there is Major Outage for ESPN.com. So I assume that is true for the entire conglomerate.
