This story is great. Love the idea to help teach kids about money. So cool that you all have reached your goal!

Btw.. Based on your mention of balance due in 4 weeks, and looking at your chart, are you all checking in by November 29th? You would qualify for free dining if you are and that would eliminate your food column. Just ignore this if you already know that, etc, etc, Just thought I'd mention it just in case

Have a great trip!!

I LOVE this idea! I am working on saving the 5000 needed to take my parents and myself of course back down to WDW for their 50th anniversary in 6 years. May sound like I have a lot of time but I don't exactly work a high paying job. I love the idea of being able to see what I need and where I have gotten!

Very cool! We tend to just use stock grants for vacations, but we're now looking at doing some serious savings towards a house. And I think I'll be using this idea to keep us all focused and serious, without feeling deprived, while working on a really solid down payment.

Thanks for the visual of the chart!

Good job and have fun! That was a great idea!

We always save and pre-pay our trip! It's such a great feeling being there knowing it's paid for and that when you return there are no bills from the trip!

Another little tip is save your change throughout the year. To make it fun we found a Mickey and Minnie bank to save the change in. You'd be surprised how much change can add up over a year or so!

What a great teaching moment for your kids too saving and meeting a goal like this...kudos to you! Now have a great time!

What an amazing gift you've given your children! The gift of a Disney vacation AND the lesson that working hard, making sacrafices, and saving towards goals pays off! That's a lesson they will keep with them, not enough children learn that these days.

Congrats on the trip of your dreams!

WOW! Talk about seizing the "teachable moment" - You did so much more for your children than just a trip to Disney... HAVE THE MOST MAGICAL TRIP EVER!
