Totally bummed.......DD has to be in a parade that morning and we are going to miss Her coming into port....but we are hoping that the parade will be over in time for us to wish them Bon Voyage, DH cousin is going to be on that cruise so we should be there to wave to her and her family.....finger crossed that we make it!!!!

yes, i'm pretty sure that marine traffic is on GMT - so arrival in Galveston is 5:20 AM local time

That makes sense, because when I spoke with the port she even called the pilot office for me to double-check, and they confirmed that it should be closer to 5 than 7 -- hence our very early 4am DIS meet at Denny's.

4 more days!!

Denny's in texas - completely off topic, DD and i were in Austin a few years back (for american idol - when american idol totally ridiculed the people in austin)...
anyway, we stayed at a doubletree right across from the arena...
this doubletree (with THE most comfortable beds she and i have ever slept in) had a Denny's in the parking lot..
So we ended up having dinner there two days in a row....
it was a real treat for DD, who had never seen a Denny's before..
the waiter there couldn't believe how excited DD was to be eating there...
anyway, the food was good, as was the service...
actually, the entire two days in Austin were lovely....too bad we couldn't stay longer!!

and now returning you to the regularly scheduled thread topic

I'm watching her on Marinetracker (well, I was until they stopped updating ) it shows UTC (basically the same as GMT but it doesn't allow for daylight savings time) so the 10:20 UTC arrival time currently shown will be 5:20 am in Galveston (CDT).

Breakfast at Nestle Cafe

I heard that Nestle Toll House Cafe at 22nd street on the Strand will be open early at 8 am for Breakfast Sandwiches, Coffee and Treats on Saturday to welcome the Disney Magic. Its one block from the Cruise Terminal.

Quote from galveston's Daily News

To mark Disney’s arrival on the island cruising scene, the port is planning events from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Pier 26. The events, which are open to the public, include games, a Radio Disney DJ and a raffle for a pair of tickets to Justin Bieber’s sold out Oct. 30 Houston concert. Proceeds from the sale of the $5 raffle tickets benefit The United Way.

Disney Magic is expected to sail in about 7 a.m. Saturday. While no public events are planned at that time, the port will allow the public to gather on Pier 26 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. to get a dockside view of Disney Magic.

“We’re opening up Pier 26 so people will be a little closer down on the waterfront than they normally would when the ships are here,” Port Director Mike Mierzwa said. “It should be fun for people who want to come down and see the ship leave.”

Hope this helps. We shall try and watch the webcam from the UK as our daughter works on the Ship. I know she is very excited to come to Texas! As are we when we sail from there on October 27th x

7 am was the original time so many different sources with different information.

There is a nagging part of me that says it will be in daylight, even if only barely, for the photo opps, so a 7 am arrival makes more sense than a 5:20 am.

We are going to make it to Galveston for the sailaway. Everyone is so excited since we are on the Nov10 sailing and we have a couple of cruise newbies and Disney newbies in our group!

That makes a whole lot of sense... more than anything else I've read. Okay, going to go update the meet thread again!
