2 questions about the princess 1/2

Hi! I am very excited to be training for my 2nd Disney Princess 1/2! This time I'm bringing my family and my 2 little girls will be running in the kids 200m dash race. Does anyone know what type of stuff is typically in their goody bag?
Secondly, I just read someone's blog about her experiencw with the princess 1/2 last year which was bad, I had such a great experience the year prior but it sounds like they changed a lot up specifically the post race area ect.

Can anyone shed some light for me?

Thanks!

cathy

I can't answer your question about the kid's goody bag, but I can tell you about our experience from the 2011 and 2012 Princess. My daughter and I started in Corral B both years and found the course, entertainment and post race absolutely great. However, our Disney travel agent had problems on the course with groups of walkers who spread across the width of the course and made it difficult for runners to pass. I do not recall what corral, but it may have been D. We are signed up for the race next year and are already trying to decide what costumes to wear!

All the Disney races are crowded, which is why they should be treated as fun races, rather than competitive ones, especially if you aren't in the first few corrals. This year was especially crowded and there were always other runners and walkers around. The best thing to do if you want this to be a competitive race is to run races outside of Disney to provide a time so you move up. Otherwise, expect that there are many times that you will have to weave in and out. Walkers can't always move to the right, runners don't always pass on the left, so you just do what you can. It is fun regardless, but a different fun!

Did the person perhaps do the race retreat after the race? I don't know how it was in years prior, but my aunt and I did it this year and it was pretty ho-hum. I noticed particularly that there were chEAR squad members sitting in chairs post-race while runners had nowhere to sit. I sat down at an empty table to eat, and a family with one runner joined and pretty much shoved me out of the table.

Aside from that, everything else in the race and post-race was the same between 2011 and 2012.

I find ones experiences, good or bad, often hinge on ones expectations. Disney races are busy and the later one finishes the more crowded the end area will be. Knowing what we know from all the discussion on these boards, we can prepare, physically and mentally, for the event. And always go in without too many expectations, as blessings are always there waiting for us to open up our eyes and hearts to see.

Not sure which blog, do you mind sharing? I was in a late corral this past year (G) and there were definitely lots of walkers, but never to the point where a runner couldn't pass. We didn't do the retreat, it was just too much money. We did hear it was a little ho-hum for $99 per person, but again many runners loved it and said they wouldn't do it again without it. We are opting for no retreat. We're go back to the room and shower, change, foam roll. Then Epcot and lunch at Biergarten!
