At least it isn't Brittknee..I had a person at Sonic wait on me and that was the spelling on her name tag.

I can understand some variations and some of them stem from the origin of the name. Some names are known for having a certain amount of variation in regards to spelling...I know for example there is Brendan, Brenden, Brendon or Catherine vs Katherine or Sara vs Sarah..I am thinking of the more out there ones like Sara/Sarah being "Suharah" or something like that.

I think the Britney/Brittany/Brittney and the Sara/Sarah thing is no biggie and I remember when it was! My name is Emily and I know other girls who spell it all different ways, however I am a traditionalist when it comes to names, and thats what I prefer.

My name is Rebekah, which is how it is spelled in the Bible. I get so much flack over it. I had bloodwork done the other day and the lady said "that's a crazy spelling, where did your parents come up with that?!?" if it wasn't for the fact that she was about to jab a needle in my arm, I would have probably been rude lol!

DS ordered her bday cake (July) and even though he was very clear on the spelling … bakery still spelled it wrong.

AS FAR AS THE WAY THOSE PARENTS SPELLED BAILEY … SHEESH.
My great niece is Rachael, and I could never find anything like this for her either. They all said Rachel.

not only can people not spell, they also can't read !

My name is Shanna, like Hanna(h) or Anna, or Shanna-like-Banana

ssshhhhhh-anna, it's not hard people, I get alllllll the time, Shauna, Sheena, Shana, for some reason the least offensive to me is Shannon or Hannah.

Where I work, so many people call me by so many different names, somebody actually asked me the other day what my real name was

Really, if you can't say it just call me Mrs. xxx

Around here many kids go by their middle name, even when they have a perfectly regular first name, or they go by a name entirely different all together not their first or middle ! Say a kid is William Johnny Smith, but will go by Cody or Mike ???

I had a student whose name was Pashience Something.

Yep...her middle name was Something. I had to see the birth certificate to believe it. Her parents were very young (15 and 16). While in the hospital they were asked what her name was and they kept saying they hadn't decided yet. One of the nurse's told them "well you have to name her something"...so they did.

and I swear - this is a true story!

I once worked with a lady who had three daughters. All had normal names with crazy spellings. It was as if she tried to add as many superfluous letters as possible. Jewelleigha = Julia. Maylyssah=Melissa. She became pregnant with a son and I wondered what she would name him. It was Luke. Plain Luke. Go figure.

We have a difficult-to-spell last name so we wanted DD to have an easy-to-spell first name. DD's name has a normal spelling, but what I didn't count on was the *other* people who spell it uniquely. She's always asked how it is spelled anyway.

I did not know that every one was required to have a middle name I thought it was up to the parent

My daughter-in-law's legal name is Shelia. Her mother did not spell it that way, and she always spelled it Sheila until she got her birth certificate for her driver's license. We usually spell it Sheila unless I am ordering a plane ticket for her. It has to match her license. Whoever filled out the birth certificate at the hospital or recorded it at city hall made the mistake. Her mother never noticed the mistake.

Katherine has a gazillion accepted spellings. My oldest's middle name is Kathryn.
