Question New DVC owner - best place to buy park tickets? (Cnd)

Just bought into the DVC on last years visit - we just couldn't resist! Anyways we have booked our stay - BLT (Nov 1-8) and then to SSR (Nov 8-10) - we couldn't get 9 nights at BLT but we are on a wait list.

I want to buy park hopper tickets but they are so expensive through Disney!! We do not want to buy passes because we only come once a year. I think 9 day pass is perfect as we will not be visiting any parks on our departure day. Total bummer there is no discount for park tickets for us DVC owners unless you buy an annual pass.

Any input would be appreciated!! I should mention that I am Canadian so if anyone knows of Canadian friendly places that would be great!

Annual passes for DVC members are $450 right now or less as bast as I can tell. You might want to check into that before you buy any regular park tickets.

You can now buy a PAP for $399. I haven't bothered to look it up but I can't imagine that a 9 day MYW ticket in any form is going to cost enough less than the new PAP price to have any significance. As a matter of fact, I can't imagine that any form of MYW ticket for 9+ days doesn't cost significantly more.

The break-even point between PAPs and MYW tickets just dropped. Significantly.

For regular tickets we used Undercover Tourist last year, after subscribing to the Mousesaver newsletter to get the extra discount. With the discount you basically get the tickets for pre-tax cost. The tickets came in the mail superquick--I'm in the US though, so not sure how different it would be for Canada.

Annual passes--generally we get annual passes every other year--travel in April, then February the next year and get 2 uses out of the pass. (Okay...so we get sucked in and throw in an extra trip in the fall to try to get 1 more use out of the pass...) If you're able to travel a couple weeks earlier next year--this would be an option for you as well--to get 2 trips out of an annual pass. The news out there is that from October-December you can buy the Premium AP for $399 (+ tax), $26 cheaper than the regular AP.

I would definitely do the math. 9 night means potentially 10 days of parks which is about the break even point for an AP.

We have always done APs (multiple trips/year) and I just deal with member services.

A 10 day park hopper on UT is $370 - for $399 you get the PREMIUM annual pass for DVC, which allows you access to all four parks, both water parks, DisneyQuest, and my hubby enjoys the 9 holes of free golf also. And I'm not sure if it's changed, but there was always a 20% discount at stores and restaurants with a PAP. We are only using it for a one week trip, and then a two week trip within the next year, but it will still save us loads as we were going to by the DVC PAP for $549 before this deal came out!
