You should be able to do it then.
Good luck (with the ROFR and the vaca)!

If VWL is your home resort, I don't think that you'd have any problem booking at the 11 month point, especially for a 1 bedroom.

May have to consider this for our trip next year...especially if we end up having to use a 7-month window.

If nothing else, we'll probably book AKL at 11 months....just to give us something.

Walking won't work the same way for the 7 month window. It will protect your unit from the others who are not home resort owners, but those that do own at the resort will be able to book beyond the dates that you lock in, so you may wind up booking the week before and then not be able to move it up....

Wait, so there are only 14 value studios at AKL?

I thought there were 46 dedicated studios?

a "dedicated" studio means that it does not connect to a 1BR.

another poster has this list:

Quote:
There are 18 Value Studios.
4 Savanna View Lock-offs
4 Savanna View Dedicated
4 Pool View Dedicated
4 Pool View Lock-offs
2 Parking Lot View Lock-offs
the "lock-off" studios connect to a 1BR and so might wind up being booked as a value 2BR...as a result, the number of value studios available to book as a studio can vary.

Thanks Chalee94,
So I read the DVC Resource Center sticky. It doesn't list Value Studios there. So if you just book at studio room, they will just give what is available?

Even with 18 value studios, it just doesn't seem like a lot of availability, at 11 months out.

I'm confused...a "value" studio can also be a "savannah-view" studio?

as far as the value studios go - they used to let you book or waitlist separately for value-dedicated vs. value-lockoff but i don't think they designate that on the waitlist or reservation any more. (and of course, you cannot request a view with value rooms.) so if that's what you mean, yes, you just book a value studio if it's available and then at some point prior to check-in, they will assign you what is available.

there are both "dedicated" savanna view studios and "dedicated" standard view studios, though. (again, "dedicated" just means there is no connecting door to a 1BR.)

there are maps that can show more details if you are interested.

a "value" villa means that it is smaller in size than the other villas. AKL/jambo house was originally all hotel rooms, so some of the villas wound up a little cramped (3 feet shorter). that is also why there are no value rooms at kidani.

"value" villas can have savanna view, pool view or parking lot view. (i.e. it is not a "value view" villa.) views cannot be requested. (as shown on the map linked above, the value villas only have a view of the sunset savanna - none have views of the arusha or uzima savannas.)

if you book a value studio, you get a cheaper room that is smaller than the other studios (value studios would be pretty cramped for a family of 4). view is luck of the draw.

Do Value studios cost less points since they are cheaper rooms? Or is what you get in, just random (value or not)

less pts = cheaper. there are point charts linked in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

i'm not really clear on what you are asking. you either book a value room or not - "value" is a separate category of villa. (and to repeat in case you missed it before: they are "value" villas and NOT "value view" villas.)

Sorry, I did not realize that Animal Kingdom had a "value" column on their points charts. Other resorts, just had price per room per season. That makes sense now.

Thanks for your patience Chalee94
