Summer clothes for October

Is it safe to believe that I'll need to take shorts and t-shirts for our October trip? It says the average temp is 86 in october in Orlando but I just wanted to be sure

I was wondering the same thing (We're going at the end of October). I was figuring on summer clothes for during the day - but will definitely bring some long pants for at night.

We need some fall travelers to answer and help us out with this one!

We love the fall at WDW. I wears shorts during the day & pants & sometimes a jacket at night. On our last Oct trip we had 2 days of record Super hot 90's then 2 days record lows at low 60's during day & 50's at night. I would pack jeans & a jacket.

We used to go in Oct every year. I always pack one pair of jeans and a sweat shirt or light jacket. I have rarely needed them.

In fact, the one year I decided not to bother was the one year Florida was having record breaking lows. So we had to go to the outlet stores nearby and get some clothes.

My FH and I went last October to celebrate our engagement and my birthday. My advice would be to pack shorts but also bring a pair of jeans and bring a sweater or a heavier T-Shirt. It got warm during the day but in the mornings and after sunset it was a wee bit chilly even for us upstate NY'ers who are used to the cold temps. The afternoon was fine though, you wouldn't even be able to tell it was freezing after 11 a.m. or so.

Yes we go every October and its summer weather. We do bring one pair of pants and a fleece or cardigan in case a cold snap hits or the nights are chilly. We haven't needed them yet.

"Average" means just that. I'd suggest looking up the record high and record low and making sure you're ready for one day of that. Also look at what the low of the day is. You likely won't have records, but then you'll be prepared! We've never been in Oct (though I live in the southeast, where we have wider temp swings - like 40's in the morning and 80 by afternoon. Orlando isn't quite as severe). We went in Nov last year and it was actually too hot one day. There were two days I wore a lightweight jacket in the morning but it was all shorts/t-shirts other than that.

Thanks for all the replies! I'll take a few pairs of long pants for each of us and a sweatshirt!

I bought a bunch of summer stuff for DD for our October trip and then I figure I'll just bring a bunch of her normal fall stuff for the evenings.

We were there the last week of October last year and we wore summer clothing all the time - even in the evening.

I think it depends on where you're coming from -- if it's a place like Minnesota where it's already getting cold and you're wearing sweatshirts at home, you'll likely be happy in shorts. If you come from Phoenix, it might feel cool at night for you.

Also consider the "what if"? If we need a jacket, do we have a car to go offsite to buy, or will we be paying Disney $50 for each sweatshirt? How "tough" is your family -- the type that would stick it out if they get a little warm or cold, or go to pieces if they shiver?

We were there last mid-October and wore shorts every day. We wore sweatshirts the first evening (and some wore their long pants) because it was lightly raining but not after that.

No matter where I go on a trip, I always take at least one of what I think I WON'T need, i.e. shorts on a cooler-weather vacation, pants on a warmer Disney trip. More often that not, weather changes and we end up wearing them at least once. Or it's the air-conditioning that gets you!

We're from MN and will be at WDW in mid-Oct. Good tips from everyone! I'm thinking going home we probably will need jeans for sure!
