It's not my favorite, but what's wrong with Psycho?

I love the old The Haunting with Julie Harris. But I'm a sucker for all scary old house movies, as long as it isn't a sex and gore-fest.

More recently, I loved The Woman in Black.

The last great horror movie was the original Halloween; all the scares without the crutch of blood and gore.

The Ring was the last horror movie I have seen. That one did me in and still creeps me out!

Psycho II

But seriously I don't know. Freddie and Jason were more funny and gory then scary. Myers, Bates, Leatherface were all kinda just weird to me. Out of all of the big boys I would have to say Leatherface. Jigsaw is great, but he isn't scary, just brilliant!

I remember watching The Exorcist and The Omen when I was a kid and being creeped out. Creep Show was pretty scary too. It seems like the horror films that freak me out the most are the ones that seem "human". Like Candyman!

I love to watch Horror Movies, it's hard to pick just one so I will list a few of them that were pretty good:

The Ring (2002)
Ju-On (The Japanese version of The Grudge)/ The Grudge (both movies are pretty good... Ju-On is better though)
The Strangers
Halloween (the original)
Friday the 13th

I came to post this one too! It was my "first" favorite horror movie. I didn't think anyone else would know it.

Halloween (the original) is my favorite as an adult. It still scares the dickens out of me!

I've seen bits and pieces of Halloween ever since it came out. I probably saw the whole thing as a teenager. I know I saw some of the sequels as a teen. A few months ago, I tried watching the original movie again. I got about 45 minutes into it, and had to quit. Here's why. . .

We don't have kids, but a couple of years ago I went trick-or-treating with some friends in our neighborhood.

We were at a house of some people we know. As we turned from their porch to continue on our way, we walked around a tree in their yard. Right there behind the tree was a guy dressed exactly like Michael Myers/The Shape. It was totally creepy. He just stood there staring at us. That was it. Just stared. Freaked the bejeebus out of us, but made us laugh in a way. We saw him later at other houses just standing there - no kids in tow or anything. Started to seem creepier.

So that was two years ago. Last year, our neighbors said he was out and about again. No one we know knows who he is .

Over the months I would picture that guy watching me do yardwork, etc. I kept thinking I'd turn around and see him. I knew I wouldn't, but the thought kept creeping into my mind.

So back to trying to watch Halloween a few months ago. I had to just turn it off after those 45 minutes . The movie was just too darn scary for me to finish since Michael Myers lives in my neighborhood!!!
