I will sometimes wear a hat. I normally wear a flat cap when I'm out and about. I look like a goofy redneck when I wear a baseball hat and my wife hates it. I shave my head pretty routinely though so I need something on my head to prevent it from getting burned. I'll probably go with a do-rag or something this August.

When on rides it's either in my pocket, down my shirt or in storage of some kind.

I only wear a hat in the winter....so no I would never wear a hat to Disney. I would hate my sweaty head! My kids always wear hats though. My daughter wears a sunhat and my son wears a baseball hat.

No hat for me. Two reasons.

(A) I have unruly hair issues and this would just make things worse, and
(B) I have an unusually large nose and I find hats just make it....uh....look bigger. And more slopey. Have I mentioned how much I hate my nose?

DH will definitely wear a hat, 'cause he happens to be losing most of what he used to have on top. He bought a great bucket hat at Discovery Cove last year that he's officially christened his "Florida Hat". He will shop in it, swim in it, mini golf it in....you name it.

DS will probably buy a couple of hats at the Lids in Orlando anyway (its one of his "must do" stores .... the US has a much better selection than we have here in Canada), so he'll definitely be sporting a new "chapeau" or two. But he's a teenaged boy, so he lives in silly looking hats most of the time.

Hello my friends! So busy lately I haven't even had time to sit down at my computer and by the time evening comes I just want my recliner lol.

I promise that by the end of this week I will get all updates and LGMH requests done!

I love the welcome packages! I wish mine were little enough for that. I am trying to think of a grown up welcome for my older sister. She has never been to Disney and will probably never go again so I am trying to make it as special as I can for her. Each of my kids had had their own special trips so now it's her turn lol.

As for the matching shirt idea I wanted to make the tie dye Mickey shirts but as soon as I mentioned it, my 15 year old son was like "no mom, just...No" so I guess that idea is out!

What is the Facebook age? I'm not on dis boards as much as I would like but on Facebook for work all the time.

DH wears his Tilley hat and I try to remember to wear a hat but forget it half the time. Last year DD4 lost her hat in the food court at POR and we didn't realize or report it for a few days. It was a ball cap we put an iron on transfer to customize it. We reported it in the off chance it was turned into lost and found but no luck. Anyway, a few months after we got home, we got a box in the mail...it was her hat! It probably cost them more to send it than the hat was worth! What amazing customer service!

Please talk me DOWN OFF the Ledge!!!

Hello fellow August DISers!!! I have just read 41 pages of "What Mistake will you avoid this time" and several people said "I will never ever go in August again~!!!" I'm NEW to August--we are usually May people. After reading all those "mistakes", I got a little concerned about going in August. We did go in August once before, but it was only the last few days of August and mostly in September.

Can you tell me some GOOD things about August? We're going regardless, but I'm just a little nervous!!

Why did they say no to August? Except for last year, every other recent trip (past 7 years basically) we've gone in early to mid August. I admit it's ridiculously hot and humid, but it's also FL and it was still that way in September when we went last year. It's crowded, but not as much as Christmas. Not sure how it is during Spring Break time. We've always had pretty good luck.

I use to wear a NY Giants visor... I always thought I looked stupid in a cap until I put one on with a curved brim. As long as I poke my pony tail out the back all is good. On rides. I take it off and put it around my wrist. Oh and it's a NY Giants cap too I can't get enough out of football season.

I wouldn't over think this... it's all in how you do things. To expect to go sun up to sun down is just not reasonable. Slow down, take time to smell the roses. Plan breaks and drink plenty of water. A good plan, if you are up to it is go to rope drop, hang for a couple of hours then head back to the resort for some cooling off and R&R (rest and relaxation) Later when you feel refreshed head back out... or don't.

Good things about August, well one, you will be in Disney World The crowds, especially the second half of the month are much more manageable. For me... the price is right. I use less points with my DVC.

I like to think I'm going to wear a hat all week, and generally buy one for myself (usually baseball cap style, but I did go for the safari look in AK one year lol). But the novelty wears off and I usually only wear it for a little bit of time - I get too hot.

I think I may bring my safari hat(real one, not the AK one) that I used in Africa this year. It was light weight and had the flap that could roll up or down...it really is very good for sun protection. It was 102 degrees in Zimbabwe, and the hat didn't make me feel too hot, so it should be fine for WDW.
