At Magic Kingdom we like either Pecos Bills or Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe. Honestly, my 2 year old would eat nothing at BOG so it's out for me. I guess we could bring him something in, but we didn't bother waiting in Dec because we weren't sure how quickly the line would move. I heard it does move quickly!

At Animal Kingdom my favorite is Pizzafari, but we ate at Restrauntasorous last trip because the 2 year old is super picky and they had stuff for him and we were on that side of the park.
Hmmm...good point about the 2 year old and BOG... Hadn't really thought about it since her food is mainly sharing ours at buffets or her own meals OOP since we're on the deluxe dining plan...may have to rethink lunch at BOG unfortunately... :-/

Maybe you could just get her a cupcake! My picky two year old would definitely eat a cupcake! Maybe you could sneak in an uncrustable?

If I remember correctly BOG had some good kid options on the menu. Our kids liked the Mickey Meatloaf with the "Orange stuff" (supposed to be Grey stuff but whatever)

It's frozen apple juice with toasted marshmallow and mango foam. Very sweet but yummy.

That's exactly how I'm using my snack credit!

I asked about bringing in food when I had to talk to the Disney Diet Specialists people because my sister is worried about cross-contamination, and they okay'd it. You could always bring the kiddo a different meal and use that as an excuse!

AK - We're going to Restrantosaurs because it had the most gluten free options (part of our party has celiac) but if that wasn't an issue I'd pick Yak & Yeti.
All great idea! Thanks! I'm still a bit hung up on BOG. I really want to go for the themeing, as it's my DWs favorite movie....but still don't want to make the kids wait.

When we were last there in 2007, Pecos Bills was closed. I really wanted to try it too. Cosmic Rays might be our back up to BOG.

At EP the Electric Umbrella was good. Kinda like Cosmic Ray's with American fare (burgers, etc) We're going to try Katsura Grill in the Japan pavilion this time.

Haven't done a CS at DHS yet.

We were going to try Yak and Yeti CS at AK but didn't get a chance to and wound up at Restaurantasaourus instead. Not our favorite. (It's like a Crocodile Dundee Restaurant: You can live on it, but it tastes like....)

The food courts at Pop and AoA were good CS places too. I don't think I'd resort hop to get to them but if you're staying at either they are nice if you are at the resort.
We are staying at AoA, so we do have that option at times. I'm really interested in that pork shank. I am one of the few people that enjoy the turkey leg...so who knows...

Our DS2 will have food. My wife just bought a little Bento box, and she's looking up ideas for it for him. We will have a car, so grocery store trips are no problem!

It seemed a little soon anyway...

Our trip has been moved from Aug. to Feb, so I must regretfully depart from this group -- I hope everyone has a truly magical trip!!!

I really wish I could so something special for our DS, but he'll be 17.5 by then (turning 18 in January) and its so hard to come up with something exciting and surprising for a kiddo who's no longer a child. On our Disney trip in 2009, when DS was turning 13, we all wore matching shirts (the big guy and the "little" guy had identical ones each day, and mine was something that went along with their theme....ie when they wore Mickey, I wore Minnie, or when they wore Donald, I wore Daisy). That definitely wouldn't fly now . No matter how much I grovelled!!!!

I did find this t-shirt that I thought DS might not mind:

http://www.disneystore.com/mickey-mo...20308/1000228/

To which I got the reply: "Uh, no thanks. But it was nice of you to try". Sigh.

Truth be told, Jake doesn't want any special trinkets, or fancy t-shirts, or anything that my Mom side is dying to create. He just wants lots of waterparking, some sleeping in, multiple good opportunities for relaxing by the pool, several evening rounds of mini golf, and lots to eat. Teen boys really are so simple.

Anyone want to lend me a preschooler, just so I can make up a welcome basket?!?

The only one I may be able to talk into matching shirts is my youngest. The others would revolt.
I don't do much surprise making type stuff either. One .. the whole December trip is a surprise
Two.. They like to pick out a few things themselves with their own money but we've been enough that they aren't too jazzed about the merchandise anymore. My son does pin trade but he likes to pick his own.

And I hear you on the sleeping-in thing. My daughter was overjoyed that this trip has more down days than planned days. She loves Disney and loves our vacations but she is 16 and tired pretty much all the time so early mornings aren't her favourite thing. She's trying to convince me to get a cabana for one of our water park days. I'm considering it, but I am pretty sure she just wants it so she can lay on a lounger, read her book, and nap. She can do that back at the room for $300 less

LOL, I know what you mean about teen boys! We are going on the Disney Dream in a few weeks and I am itching to make t-shirts for Pirate night...just not sure what the reaction would be lol! I did get to got that fix a few years ago when they were still young enough not to protest!

I love all the welcome ideas!! Thetorit, the only thing I would have is a back up plan for arrival in case your room isn't ready. Most of the time it's not an issue, but on occasion our room wasn't ready when we checked in. But if it's not, you can still head out and they will send you a text....at that point you could make an excuse to go back to the room, and then when you are done decorating notify the rest of the group and have them come to the room.

Love it!!!

Somehow, back in '09, I even managed to convince them that it was a good idea to do a family photo shoot at the Poly, all dressed in our matching finery:

Those were the days .

Nah, I'm not complaining. I have raised a fine boy, and I'm so proud of the young man he has become. And someday (hopefully not too soon) I will be blessed with grandbabies whom Nanna will most certainly be taking on a Disney vacation. And you can bet your boots that we'll all be dressed in our matching Disney wear on that trip......Jake included.

Great family shots!! And isn't it amazing what few years difference makes? lol. But my boys are also great, and they go along with my Disney craziness, so I don't push too hard

LOL, I'll PM you!

But OMG....she is absolutely gorgeous.....like a little angel.

Don't tell my MIL, but I should have taken here advice years ago and adopted another child or two like she so desperately wanted us to do. Sigh......too late now.
