empty water bottle through TSA?

Thinking about getting a brita filtered water bottle to save on bottled water. Can I bring it empty through security on carry on?

Planning to only carry on luggage and would hate to have to throw away a pricey filted water bottle. Thanks.

Not a problem! I take an empty bottle on the plane every time I fly.

TSA is concerned about fluids, not the containers. www.tsa.gov

To avoid problems with your bag being searched, I suggest that you pull this out of your carry on and put in a bin, so TSA can see that it is empty.

I do this every trip. I suggest putting the Brita in a separate zip-loc bag and then putting it in the bin. The plastic bag will keep it clean (those bins also hold shoes!!!)
