Planning a January Trip - The DIS Discussion Forums

We are planning a trip to Orlando for January 2013. Looking for advice from the experts. We have never done Universal but would like to spend part of our vacation there. Is it cheaper to drive to Universal, ride Mears or change hotels? How are the crowds in January? Would the fast pass you get by staying on site be a benefit.

Oh and me too. I'd love to hear some advice since we will be going over MLK Jr. holiday weekend. First trip ever!
