IMO, the lounge is the biggest perk of Club!! I don't use the itineray planning service (I'm a little OCD about making my own reservations), so the reason we book CL is for the food and extra space in the lounge! Not to mention the location of the Poly lounge is perfect

We usually eat out at lunchtime as my boys do like more than chips and cookies for lunch , but breakfast and dinner are in the lounge. If anyone needs more food, we can always supplement, but I definitely don't plan on eating out for dinner when you have all that fantastic food!!

Absolutely! We haven't used the IPO much either, though a few times they have managed to find us a reservation at a popular restaurant at the last minute, which is a fun perk. But the lounge is definitely why we go! My mom likes to camp out at one of the tables by the window all afternoon. Haha, and I must admit, we sometimes go out for lunch too, but the other club meals are so good! I used to work at the Boardwalk club lounge, and it was just so funny to see guests who did club so differently - who were away all day long and had the dining plan and stuff. To each his own I guess, but I like the redneck way of doing club.

To the Magic Kingdom and Merida 2.0

Another morning dawned at the Polynesian. It was our second-to-last morning at Disney World, which made it a little bittersweet. But then with this view to contemplate while you eat breakfast, you can't really be sad for long...

You know, I think I've finally reached the point where I can look at a launch departing from the Polynesian and NOT feel that twinge of guilt, wishing I were on it and heading to the MK. There are just too many things to do at Disney. I always find myself wanting to be in two places at once. But I was definitely enjoying my club breakfast.

Why, yes, I did eat both a croissant and a bagel for breakfast. Carbs don't exist at Disney, don't you know that? And anyway, there was a lot of fruit on that plate too - probably the healthy and the unhealthy cancelled each other out.

My mom and I have already been dreaming of what we will eat when we return to a Disney club breakfast in June (though I don't think it'll be at the Poly, but we did get a great rate at another club). My mother intends to eat six pieces of toast with butter, probably spread out over a few hours. I also would like the toast with butter, but perhaps will substitute a few pieces for croissants or chocolate muffins.

Dreams of Disney food are sometimes the only thing that can see you through ordinary life and trying to get into better shape.

After breakfast, we headed off to spend a few hours at the Magic Kingdom.

Strolling over to hop on the launch.

On the ground near the dock I found a near-perfect tropical flower!! I never pick the flowers off the bushes at Disney because it seems like bad form, but I am not averse to picking one up that has already left the branch. It made for the perfect hair accessory:

Ahhhh...the Polynesian looks so pretty from the water.

Au Revoir, darling!

Don't worry, we'll be back soon!

Actually, we might be back very soon. Do you SEE all the crowds on that boat?? And it was just 9:30, we hadn't even missed opening by all that much. Disney during the summer is just sometimes a bummer. This year we're going slightly earlier, June instead of July. So maybe it'll be a bit better?

You look wonderful, monorail, zipping through the sky; but I have a bad feeling you're carrying just as many hoards as that boat!

Once our launch pulled up, we hastened off and up to the turnstiles. I only had a wristlet, no bag (I didn't bring my good camera, so that's why some of these pics will be grainy!), so Athos and I zipped ahead while the rest of the family went through the bag check and waited for Athos to arrive.

Our first goal was to visit Merida again - we had had such a fabulous interaction with her at the beginning of the trip, we wanted Dad and Porthos to experience it too. Athos and I would head up Main Street and jump in the Merida line in case it was long.

We had to outrun the Celtic Dance Festival that was just coming down Main Street. We would stop for a photopass pic, and they would gain on us, and then we would have to hurry up again!

Merida once we reached her - wouldn't you guess it - had absolutely NO LINE. Disney character queues are pretty much the most unpredictable thing on earth. When Rapunzel was in that location, the line used to stretch all the way up towards the wishing well! I wonder if Merida was still somewhat undiscovered last summer? When we were back at Disney briefly this January, the line was Rapunzel-length again!

And, as a side note, I really hope they bring Rapunzel back as a normal meet and greet. I have never met her, and I have never met Eugene, but after reading about Lia's meet and greet with them at MNSSHP, I seriously want to meet the Tangled crew!!

I think Athos and I strolled over towards the Hub and got another photopass pic - we had decided we would buy the CD. There was a photopass guy along the Tomorrowland Bridge who would take photos of you in front of the castle, but as we approached, he was just finishing up taking a pic of a group in front of the Tomorrowland sign.

Kinda fun to get a different perspective! I never thought of asking a photopass person to turn around a get a different non-standard background, but they're very accomodating! We also got the Tinkerbell one...

LOL...I love Athos's SURPRISE face.

We admired the audioanimatronic bears while we waited for the rest of the fam to arrive. We also tried out the archery thing that Dart had done before. It was harder than you would think!

There weren't any kids at the coloring table...just goes to show how dead the line was! Once the family arrived we got in line and had only five minutes to wait. We were hoping it would be the same Merida we had gotten before, because she was so amazing - exactly like the one in the movie! But sadly Merida looked a little different that day...

She wasn't as nice as before either. She kinda shooed us away as soon as we got an autograph and a picture - maybe that was why the line was so short! Funny how your character experience is luck of the draw - sometimes it's great, sometimes it's pretty mediocre.

But we would have a fabulous experience with Tiana later that day, so that would make up for it!

Such cute pictures of you and your bro!

I can't believe Merida snubbed you like that. That's so wrong! Glad you made up for it late.

So jealous of your club level Polynesian stay. All of the food offerings look so delicious. I'm loving your trip report, and I'm sad that it will soon be over. I can't wait to read the next one.

I love the way they've transformed Merida's area - it feels like the hall of her castle, and I love the family tapestries!

I know! I guess even Disney princesses (or soon-to-be-Disney-princesses...Merida gets inducted this week, right?) have bad days!

It was definitely delish! I'm kinda sad to be approaching the ending too, but at least there's a new one coming up very soon...just about a month til we're back at Disney!!

In Which Tiana Offers to Turn One of My Brothers into a Frog

After meeting Merida, we stopped in Cosmic Ray's for some lovely cold tap water. We had only been in the park half an hour and were already wilting. It was SO hot out.

Good old Sonny Eclipse was still doing his thing, playing to an empty house!

Dart showed me the Sorceror's cards they had stopped to get on the way into the park and very generously gave me one. I was kinda excited, because we finally got the Belle's Snowball Fight Card:

She was the one princess I was still missing. I like the more princess-y cards too, but I really like that Belle's special skill is snowball fighting. That's just cool.

Feeling refreshed, we moved on into Fantasyland for a spin on the teacups, then hopped on Peter Pan. I don't think I could ever ride that ride too many times. It's just so purely magical. Who doesn't like to go to Neverland?

The only thing I'd like to see in that ride is a little more Tinkerbell, especially now that they have new material from the Tinkerbell movies. I know that they're Disney sequels and that they're on Netflix (neither or those two tend to indicate a super quality movie...lol), but the Tinkerbell movies are actually really cute and pretty darn good!

I'm afraid this is the only photo I have for you from Fantasyland. It's of a trash can. But it's a pretty trash can!

Athos wanted to ride Haunted Mansion; Mom and Dad went with him while Porthos, Dart, and I (we're not huge fans of ghosts) instead went to take in a concert...

It was Mickey's Philharmonic, of course! And it was philharmagical as always. I just love that movie.

Donald always gets into so much trouble!

We regrouped at Pinnocchio's Village Haus for some more tap water. Hydration. IT'S IMPORTANT!

Cake? For me? Pinnocchio, you shouldn't have! Now gimme.

Actually we didn't get any cake, though I think we got an order of breadsticks to split. I think they're about $4 and you get four breadsticks as well as pizza sauce for dipping...not a bad deal!

"Figaro is a Cat." Thank you for explaining that. I would never have known, especially as the illustratory picture has him sleeping in a bed like a person. lol.

Our next stop was to be Pirates, and as we were cutting through Liberty Square, I mentioned that I didn't have Tiana's autograph. I had brought my autograph book (Aramis bought me a super cool one from Tokyo Disneyland) to get Merida's autograph that day - as a handwriting connoisseur myself, I like to have a sample of all the princess's handwritings on hand for inspiration. lol.

ANYway, I am basically always lobbying for us to go see princesses, usually not expecting us to actually do so, but I was surprised this time when I was taken seriously! Dad was like, "I don't think we've ever seen Tiana before..."

Dad, I'm impressed. Your Disney awesome points just went way up.

We cut through the Christmas Shoppe just to check out the line and were amazed to find it was only 5-10 minutes long! I guess everybody was doing the rides and not the characters, because the rest of the park seemed busy enough.

Admiring Tiana's gazebo as we stood in line...I see some hidden frogs!

We were making jokes as we stood in line. My family loves Star Trek, and in one of the Star Trek series there's a captain names Benjamin Sisco who comes from New Orleans, and his father owns a restaurant there and makes amazing gumbo - just like Tiana. So we were quoting lines from the series and wondering if Tiana might be related to them. "Tiana is...the Sisco."

I also decided that we should get Tiana to kiss Athos and turn him into a frog.

Our interaction with Tiana was everything that the reaction with Merida wasn't. She was fantastic!

We got our pictures and autographs, but she was in no hurry to shoo us away. She asked where we were from, and when we said the Northeast, she told us about an ice cream shop in Philadelphia she loves. Now, naturally, Tiana would know her restaurants, but I looked up the place afterwards (it's called the Franklin Foutain), and it is a real ice cream shop that sounds amazing! We told Tiana about a chocolate cafe called Max Brenner's that we've been to in Philapdelphia, and she looked like she was planning to remember it for her next visit!

We then asked about her restaurant, and she offered us all jobs working there, so long as we were willing to be paid in beignets.

I NEED A GOOD JOB AND I AM WILLING TO WORK FOR BEIGNETS.

lol. I was seriously tempted.

THEN was the absolute best part. We made the boys be in a picture with Tiana and me, and as we're lining up, Tiana says: "Now which one of these brothers you want me to kiss and turn into a frog?"

OH MY GOODNESS - did she hear us talking in line??? It was too perfect - I naturally replied Athos without a single moment's hesitation. So she gets Athos next to her, puckers up, and gets closer and closer to Athos's cheek...

lol, ok, she didn't actually kiss him, but we were all absolutely in stitches and Athos, as he told us afterwards, was freaking out and considering flight, but Tiana had him pinned in! COMPLETELY HYSTERICAL.

It was especially funny because we had been doing our "Sunday Clothes" Disney music video, and one of the lyrics that Athos had to sing was "And I won't go home until I've kissed a girl..." so we were joking we should try to get one of the princesses to kiss him!

It was definitely one of our best character interactions ever!

We proceeded then to Pirates and sailed through the Caribbean. Fun times.

I enjoyed this t-shirt we passed in the gift shop...

I would listen to that song, and I bet that would be a pretty epic music video too.

After Pirates, it was getting later in the afternoon, so we decided to stop by the Plaza Restaurant to visit Aramis (who was working that afternoon) and then go back to the Polynesian.

Unfortunately the line for Ariel was pretty long, so I couldn't talk the family into meeting her and Eric. Mom thought she looked suspiciously like the great Merida we had met earlier in the trip, but I'm not so sure...In any case, she and Eric looked like they were having a great time - it's fun to watch the characters interacting with other guests, even if you don't get to meet them yourself!

When we stopped to say hello to Aramis, we somehow decided we would stop at the Plaza and split a few ice cream sundaes, mostly because we wanted to be able to watch Aramis at work. When he was at Chef Mickey's it was easy to spy on him - you had 11 floors of the Contemporary to chose from! But at the Plaza you kinda have to actually be in the restaurant. The ice cream was nice too...

Although, to be perfectly, honest, it was a pretty ordinary sundae for the cost. I don't know what they could do to spruce up the sundaes here, but somehow I felt the selection needed just a little more pixie dust! The lunch offerings are quite nice though, from when I've tried them in the past, but we were trying to keep the bill down so we just got desserts that day.

We polished off the sundaes while watching Aramis escort his guests to their tables and observing the guests themselves. Right next to us was a very mysterious couple wearing honeymoon buttons who didn't say a single word to each other THE ENTIRE MEAL. It was so strange.

Maybe they had been quarrelling? Maybe they were just exhausted from the heat and crowds. Maybe they communicate telepathically. WHO KNOWS!

People watching is just so interesting.

We bid Aramis adieu for the time being and in spite of the ice cream, I (of course) had to stop in the Main Street Bakery to check out the cupcake situation. This was back in July, when the Olympics were going (it was fun to watch some of the events when we got back to the room each night!), and it took me a minute to realize those ice cream cones were supposed to be Olympic torches!

My cupcake goal that day was for a peanut butter chocolate one I had heard about, and when I asked, a nice CM brought me out one from the fridge!

SCORE! I didn't eat it until later, by which time it was a melty mess, but it was still very tasty. Cupcakes are just not quite as enjoyable in extreme heat though.

I'm hoping the Main Street Bakery/Starbucks will be open when we head back this June...I'm a little nervous to see what treats they'll have. Will it be generic Starbucks stuff or special Disney stuff? Surely they wouldn't leave the MSB with NO cupcakes. Surely they wouldn't do that to us cupcake fans, right?

The Dapper Dans were braving the heat to do their performance! I think I like their Christmas costumes even better than their normal ones - and my mom once spotted a little girl with a Dapper "Debbie" matching Christmas outfit - so adorable. It makes me wonder if I could convince my brothers to go as the Dapper Dan's to MNSSHP someday and make a Dapper Debbie costume for myself. Hmmmm...

There were a few last things we wanted to pick up in the Emporium. I had seen these adorable pink striped flip flops on another guest and had been looking for them in shops the entire trip...and finally found them at the Emporium!

See? Aren't they adorable? They're almost too pretty to wear!

We were almost ready to go...just casting our last lingering glances at the castle...but there was just one more thing I wanted to do. It involved a certain secret photopass effect, and to hear about it...you'll have to wait til Thursday!
