I'm glad Madison liked SM. It is such a fun ride. I was expecting Evan to get lots of colored gel in his hair, but his haircut was very nice.

I would love to stay at the Boardwalk.

There's a 25 picture per post limit. Besides, you saw how the angry mob reacted when I didn't get out of Legoland and onto Disney fast enough. They might tar and feather me for too many bunny pictures. Although it was a Disney bunny.....

I'm sure he would have. The problem is that I wasn't about to buy him his own - and our family has a bit of an issue when it comes to sharing Dole Whips.

Mostly me. I have a problem sharing my Dole Whip.

But when we met Brian's wife and daughter there, Madison turned to look at me with that devilish gleam in her eye and asked if we could ride it again.
Good job sacrificing your shoulder for the team. Glad she ultimately enjoyed it. I hate it when you have a scared kid at the end of a ride. Not that I've ever experienced it, but I hear it's not fun.

LOVE the picture of Ryder's shirt in the first pic of the update...he is too stinkin' cute.

Was it the family that wanted pictures of the bunny, or you?

Seriously, Barry, you need to get rid of that hat.

Love the family photopass picture in front of the castle.

to Madison for riding Space Mountain.

And isn't it funny how kids can meet someone for the first time and act as if they have known them forever?

Great update...and glad you are FINALLY at Disney.

Settling My Debt.

The last time we were at Disney World was in October of 2011. Ryder was born in March. Do the math, and you'll find out that Bambi was 17 weeks pregnant during that visit. And according to her doctor (and numerous signs all over the resort) a lot of stuff was off limits.

Dole Whips: OK.

Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road: No No.

Gorging Yourself at Ohana: OK

Rockin' Roller Coaster: Did you really just ask that?

it's a small world: I don't care how much you beg and plead - I'm not going to give you a doctor's excuse to not ride this because you think the music will upset the baby.

Splash Mountain: Again, a big No No.

So, during that visit, I had to take the kids on all of the rides that Bambi was prohibited from doing. But I did it with the promise that on our next visit, I would find a nice shady spot with Ryder while she took the kids.

Well, the time had come and I dutifully hung out with Ryder in the Splash Mountain gift shop while Bambi took the older kids on the ride. And how did Madison feel about me not being on the ride?

Just kidding she was absolutely fine with it.

The Briar Patch store was pretty crowded, but I was able to snag a seat when it was lunch time. Or dinner time. Or whatever meal Ryder calls it when he gets hungry at 4 in the afternoon. Early Bird Special at Dennys?

Round about this time, we decided we needed to take a little spin around the park, so we climbed up to the Frontierland Station to wait for the next Iron Horse.

We must have just missed one, because we had about a 10 minute wait or so. I plopped Ryder up on a garbage can or guard rail or something so he could get a good look around. He heard the train coming, and as soon as he saw that brightly colored locomotive emerge from the tunnel, his eyes got as big a saucers. So I guess that thing with little boys and trains starts pretty much at birth, huh?

Despite being a pretty full train already, we found an empty bench and hopped on.

It was a nice, relaxing ride around the park. Except that the conductor had to keep coming on the PA to remind everyone on the right side of the train to not to put our feet down on the lower step, even having to go to finally start mentioning specifically the person in the 3rd car, 5th row back. Sheesh buddy, take a hint. (And no, it wasn't me)

We pulled into the new Carolwood Park station, but didn't get off. We continued right on past the Main Street, USA stop and finally arrived back at the Frontierland. We heeded the conductor's warning to not stand up until the train and the station were going the exact same speed, then climbed down.

We made our way around into Fantasyland where the kids wanted to see Mickey's Philharmagic. Ryder of course wouldn't get much out of it, but we brought him into line with us anyway. He then made it clear that he had other plans. Not by screaming or crying or anything. No, it was much more subtle. But as soon as you smelled it, you knew immediately that no matter how hard they push out the Apple Pie smell in the movie, you wouldn't be able to smell anything but him. Bambi, not being as big a fan of the show as I was, volunteered to sit this one out and clean him up while I took the other kids. I'm sure I protested and offered to take him as the kids and I were sprinting into the pre-show area.

After the show, we met up and Bambi and a very happy little Ryder and crossed the path to the carousel where grandma & grandpa bravely volunteered to take Ryder on his first ride.

The verdict? He loved it. Music, spinning and going up and down are 3 of his favorite things.

After the ride, we split up. Evan wanted to ride the Tomorrowland speedway before dinner, but Madison didn't. I drew the short straw (and had the healthiest neck and back to absorb the shocks) so I took him. And by the looks of it, I didn't get in the car fast enough.

So I hopped in, buckled us up and said my little prayer. See Evan's grin? He takes my prayers as a personal challenge.

As we were driving and enjoying (read: contact high) the gasoline and exhaust fumes, I looked down and found out what these cars are actually powered by. Pixie Dust!

While making our herkey-jerky way around the back side of the track, I noticed a really neat cloud formation directly above the castle. The setting sun was making a vibrant halo effect that Evan was making very hard to capture in a decent picture by constantly slamming into that center rail.

We finished our hot lap, then high tailed it over the Plaza Restaurant for our dinner ressie. We've never eaten here before and I've heard mixed reviews. So naturally, we decided to try it for ourselves and see what all the fuss (or disdain) was all about.

I usually don't do a lot of food pictures, but Madison's turkey sandwich was too cute to pass up.

And so was my Sundae.

In case you are either a) My Mother or b) a concerned bystander wondering if I had something else to eat besides that ice cream, yes, I did. I believe I had the Reuben. And it was good. Everyone enjoyed the food, but the restaurant, despite being only 1/2 to 3/4 full, was pretty loud due to all of the tile and hard surfaces. It looked very nice, but it echoed all of the noise.

So, how do you get the most out of a visit to the Plaza? Mind your manners - don't talk too loud so you don't disturb the folks around you. And when you finish dipping your cookies, always stick your pinkie up when slurping down the rest of the milk.

By the time we finished eating, we were all pretty beat from the long day. Everyone joined hands and strolled down Main Street, stopping to photobomb this poor couple's Photopass picture.

A quick turn to say "See Ya Real Soon" to Cindy's place and we headed back to the bus stop.

We arrived back at the Boardwalk, found our room and used the new RFID encoded key to tap the lock and open the door. We tossed everyone into pajamas and hit the sack.

Up Next: The Return of the Canadians and a Great Disturbance in the Force

Omigosh that picture of Ryder on the carousel is just toooo precious!

I took my daughter to the Plaza back in May and I will say that the food was good but our server was disappointing. She really acted like she was more bothered by having to wait on any more tables that day. No personality whatsoever and never even smiled once nevermind wish my daughter a happy birthday (which was stated on the ressie). I may go back in the future and give it a try but probably won't on my trip coming up.

Yay for Bambi getting to go on the previously-forbidden rides! And for Ryder getting his first ride in...looks like he had a blast!
