Arrow Mystery Stairs on Wonder/Magic?

I was exploring the Wonder & there were several sets of stairs at the very rear of the decks. On the deck plans I can see the pair that lead from Topsiders on 9 to 8. I think a second set led from 8 to 7, directly across the doors to the rear observation deck.

But I seem to remember more going down a deck or two?

I ask because we are booked in a Navigator suite on Magic, level 5 & I'm just OCD. Thanks

The "secret" stairs in the far aft end at Deck 7. The only ones that go on down to the lower decks are the "official" aft stairs.

Since you are OCD, I am sure you will appreciate this note: there is no Topsiders on the Wonder. It's Beach Blanket Buffet back there.

We were on Deck 7 of the wonder and there were stairs up and down back there. They weren't "secret" though...? They were just there to get up and down like regular stairs. Can you elaborate on what you are talking about?

Except for the ones indicated from inside the buffet on 9 to 8, they aren't on the deck plans. So I called them "mystery stairs"

But there were definitely additional stairs going down from 8 to 7 at the very aft of the hallways. They were right across from the doors to the rear observation deck. These aren't on the plans. I thought there was at least one other set off to starboard, that went down as well. They were narrower than usual & more utilitarian. They led from 7 to 6?

I was just wondering if they were on both sides & if they went down to 5 as well?

But it seems y'all are saying that deck 7 is the end of the line, thanks for the help.

There are many "crew only" passageways all over the ships. We used some rear stairs to get to our muster station when we were on 7 far aft. Don't know if these are what you are referring to.

We entered out muster station (at Animator's) at the rear of the restaurant.

There are def secret stairs 9 down to 8 but I don't think there is 8 down to 7 as we stayed 7 aft and when I used the secret stairs i'm sure I had to use the regular aft stairs as well.

On the Magic at least the stairs can be used between 7 & 8, as well as 8 & 9.

What the OP is referring to are public stairs....not crew stairs. I know excatly what they are describing.

I believe these "secret" all the way aft stairs go down as far as Deck 6 or 5 (sorry I can't remember 100%). they are not on the deck plans but are all the way aft. From within Topsiders/BBB you can access these stairs at the very end of the buffet line on either side. There is a cruved set of stairs that leads down to deck 8 and then you walk down a hall and it brings you out to the cabin hallway on Deck 8. If you then go around the corner you can go down a wide set of stairs on each deck down to deck 5 or 6.

I am boarding the Magic this morning so I will try to get some pics.

I think I know what steps hes reffering to. On Deck 7, at the entrance to the Aft Overlook, theres a set of stairs that go down another deck and end at a door. The doors lead to crew access hallways for lifeboat drills etc.

Arrow Thanks

Mmouse37 & Truck1, you got it. Thanks!

Me & DS are short-cut & "secret mission" types, so lesser know stairs up to the buffet would be fun.

Any other odd spots that you can thinks of?

What are the large glass windows on the lower portion of the stern on Dream & Fantany? Just above the morning bays?

When I get home Ill look at the plans I have for the Magic class. If I remember correctly, there is emergency battery storage for the ships electronics potrt side just above the mooring deck.

If you look at the Magic class bow on, just below the bridge about the deck 7 level or so, you can see a walkway/verandah that goes around the curved portion of the supersturcture. That walkway I think is reserved for the officers that have cabins under the ships bridge.

On the Magic, go outside deck 5, port side, and find lifeboat 10. Theres a seam there that starts at the deck level and runs vertically. Thats the welding seam from where the bow and aft sections of the Magic were welded together. The Wonder has 1 in the exact same place, but its for show only since the Woner was built in 1 piece at the saem yard, as opposed to the Magic that was built in 2 different yards 100 miles away.

Woah, that is fascinating! Why would they make a "fake" seam there? Welding hours are not cheap, why pay a union worker to put a fake one where no one would see it anyway?

The reasoning I understood was to make the ships ( at the time of their builds) as identical structurally as possibly.
The welds on the Magic were done by hand by several different welders. The one on the Wonder, were done by computer and robots in the shops before it left to be placed on the ship.

I knew about the seam on the Magic, but couldnt remember where it was. When we were on her in 2010, I asked Brent about it, and he had one of the crew that does the tours meet me in the Atrium, took us outside, and told us about it. The way that the tour guide explained it was that right after the Magics Maiden, there was a few designers and bigwigs from Fincantieri onboard. The senior designer said that if and big if, that the Magic ever developed a crack, it would be any where BUT where the 2 parts were welded together. He was that confident in the precision and quality in which they used at the time.

BTW, you do see it if you know where to look, and what you are looking at. Theres enough welds on the outside of the ship to drive you crazy tyring to track what weld is what. I have a picture of it somewhere Ill have to try and find it.
