Large krispies gone?

We're at the World now and it seems the large rectangle rice krispie treats are no more? Say it ain't so! (Please forgive me if this is old news, but I've been surprised to only see the pre-made ones or mouse ears on a stick version.)

Rice crispy treats are my weakness. I loved getting a big one with chocolate and carmel on top and would eat on it all week. lol

Did you try the german carmel shop? That's where I got mine last year.

They still have them a goofy's candy co. at DTD. They are mickey shaped of course

As for the difference between premade & homemade...I think wdw has gone towards making these ahead of time.

I saw the squares at Karmel Kush (sp?) this past sat (9.1) also say some the week before at goofy's...I have asked for them (and received) at MK bakery but I am not positive you can get them there any longer. They are sadly missed

Ooh! We'll have to try the caramel shop. Thank you!!

We asked tonight at Goofy's and were told they no longer carry the rectangles -- just the Mickey ears on a stick version.

try the candy place just inside MK as they make them there all day long so maybe they have the ones you want. they even make large Mickey head ones and they had ones in a ball with toppings and without.. the ones shaped like footballs or holidays we were told come in premade to Disney.

I just returned Sunday and thought the same thing. We stayed at the Beach Club and I used to love to get the season themed treats, candy corn, ghost etc.. The only ones they had were Mickey head shaped and I thought they were much smaller than they used to be!

I have been told that WDW contracts a lot of their "home-made" confectionaries out and only makes a small percentage of stuff at the Main Street shop. A company over in Daytona made a lot for years until Disney decided to change vendors. Given the many such changes over the years, I think Disney will make decisions to change or eliminate items or suppliers based mostly on cost/savings.

You can still order them from here : Selmas. If I'm not mistaken I think Selma's supplies (or has supplied) Disney with some of their treats.

I don't remember seeing the large plain squares anywhere this trip either, but I wasn't actually looking for them either.

Now I can't remember where I saw them, but somewhere this past weekend (Labor Day weekend) I saw the candy-corn shaped rice krispie treats with the icing in candy corn colors - pointed them out to husband, so that stuck in my memory. Also saw flip-flop ones...maybe at the BEach Club Marketplace? We were staying at the Beach Club and in and out of the food area there many times for coffee & soda, with the occasional snack so we were walking past the area with cookies & such. We also visited several stores in DTD but we did not shop at Goofy's Candy Co so I don't think I saw them there. There were some caramel-drizzled rice krispie treats at the Karmel Kuche in Germany/Epcot, but don't remember what size they were...we were busy looking at the cookies & cupcakes.

I did see the Mickey-shaped ones at several places, and actually thought those appeared smaller than they used to be, but that may have been my memory error...I haven't bought one for years but daughter-in-law bought them often for snacks on our Sept. 2011 trip (due to dietary limitations, the rice Krispie treats were one of her favorite snack choices.)
