I have to say that in all of our DVC stays, the GCV was the most magical/special experience we've had.
We also a great room that overlooked Paradise Pier and although it wasn't a great view of WOC you could see it and hear it (with the door open). Watching the park and people in action was an awesome view. However we did make a request; high floor, theme park view. Other rooms can overlook the pool.

For us it was the best DVC experience we have ever had as well. We simply adore the VGC.

I would also suggest being on the phone exactly at when MS open to make your reservation to give yourself the best chance possible.

Last year for october right at 7 months at phone line opening we were only able to get 5 nights for a studio at grand californian . So longer stays could be hard to get.

No problem getting a 2br for the 1st weekend of November(kids get a 4 day weekend). Was kind of nervous as I had the FF tickets already booked.

Also looked at the 7 month window for our spring break and the whole week was opened.

Difficult

Although GVC is our home and we planned a trip around the 7 month window we had to piece meal a four day stay in a studio M-Thu. We arrive on a Friday so we had to book at the Disney Hotel until Mon and then the last Friday night at the Pier. Not exactly what we planned for but that's what we get for waiting.

However, since we live in HI, Aulani has been very easy to get at the 7 month window.

I always wish I would write down the rooms we stayed in, but I don't. I don't recall the number. It was the fifth floor so you could really oversee everything.

Sorry, I don't know the exact room number!

OK, so do you know how easy it is to change a reservation online? I looked at the booking process & it seems simple enough to MAKE one (unless I'm missing something that's not so obvious). But I was curious how easy it is to make changes once you make the reservation...can you do that online (add a day / drop a day / change a room type) or do you need to call MS? Whenever we go I will probably want to book 3 nights at VGC then 5 nights at Aulani. I can only book 7 nights tho, right? Can I do both the VGC ressie and the first 4 nights at Aulani in one reservation or do I have to break it up & try again on the first day of the Aulani stay? I am wondering if I may need to be flexible & have to change things around as it goes.

Call MS. Only modification you can make online is to completely cancel a reservation.

You must book 11 / 7 months in advance of each individual arrival. This is true even if you are staying at multiple resorts at WDW. You book 7 months in advance of the VGC arrival date and then again 7 months in advance of the Aulani arrival date.

What are the odds of a two bedroom over Presidents weekend..Thursday leaving Monday. Would it be better to rent points and then rent out our BCV points?

Anyone have experience for 2nd or 3rd week of June for a 1 or 2 bedroom? Thinking of the 7 month window for 2013. Thanks!

Are you meaning 2013? Already no availability except Friday in a two bedroom and Thursday in a one bedroom. You really need to book VGC right at the seven month mark because they go fast.

Oh my goodness! You're as bad as me. I've started planning my Summer 2014 trip already.

If you book early morning, right at the 7 month mark, you should have a shot at something. The 2 bdrm dedicated seems to be the last to go.

Good luck and have fun with your planning. I think it's as much fun as the trip itself.

we've been able to obtain studio 3 - 4 night stays, departing on Saturday for early February and end of May in the past neither time at 7 months, May at 5 months and February less than 3 months, although i did have to move my trip back to week prior to president's day.

it's a nice resort, but we had to laugh when we stepped out on our balcony and saw our 'theme park' view last trip. If we hung off the balcony and turned right we could see a sliver of the night-time show. Forget the room number but it on the 4th floor, turning left off elevator area it was room at end of hall where it splits to a 'T'.

i'm thinking if we decide to return next summer we'll book the DLH non-points. Want to see the pool/grounds rehab and actually like the resort itself better. Know you can use points to stay here but surprised they haven't turned one of the towers into DVC with the demand for rooms.

True that the trees have obstructed many theme park views. Still..love the place. I just stayed at DLH in August and although I love it (great pool view and Trader Sams is great) I still prefer VGC. It was so darn hot even the distance from DLH to parks seemed long.
