Not sure if everyone here knows this, but New England suffered a 4.0 earthquake yesterday, that started In Maine and ran as far south as Connecticut. So far there have been no major injuries or damage reported, thankfully.

And, though I hate to disagree with people who are way more educated than I am, but the seizmologists are wrong. The rumbling event had nothing to do with anything tectonic. Instead, news broke that the NHL owners had come back to the table with a potential 50/50 offer, and simultaneously, 20 million hockey fans throughout New England screamed in unison...

HA HA HA. I think it was more likely fans all over North America. My fingers are crossed 6 ways that the lockout will end and we will see the puck drop Nov. 2nd!

I've also heard that Bettman never had unanimous support from ownership throughout the league regarding the lockout. I think he was forced to put an offer on the table because he was afraid that he would be blindfolded and forced to walk the plank. I am cautiously optimistic that this will be settled in time to salvage the season and hope that the hockey gods will be smiling on us all.

I truly think Bettman needs to go, but who could replace him? There are lots of great choices but who wants to take a job with the potential to be hated by millions of people?

The Hanson Brothers would do a better job of this than Bettman.

But seriously, the league should look to the NFL commisioner's office building to find someone. The NFL has done nothing but grow. They have a history of getting ahead of the curve regarding PED and substance abuse. And being a physical sport, have been dealing with the player safety issue for a while. Aside from the ref lockout, they seem to do everything right.

Why the NHL went with an NBA, Stern lapdog, as a commisioner is completely beyond me.

Since there seems to be an impass. Here are a couple of videos that harken back to a better time (as long as you are not a Habs or Canucks fan)

Did anyone else hear the Islanders are moving to Brooklyn? That's kind of nice for me. I'm a Rangers fan and tickets at MSG can be expensive so now I have the option of going to Brooklyn to see them play the Islanders. Easy subway ride instead of that dreaded drive to LI.

The question is you think they'll be playing hockey by 2015??

So apparently the travel section of the Boston globe is selling packages for hockey games out of town. Thought that was a little weird, but they must be overly optimistic

Just heard on the radio that an announcement is expected next week that the Winter Classic is cancelled, and that the announcement is likely to come on Monday.....

The last Bruin letter-wearer is now playing in Europe. Chris Kelly signed a month-to-month contract in Switzerland. Also, today is the deadline or the Winter Classic is cancelled.

Here's my question. Do the owners think that this is a threat?

Do they think the players (especially those drawing salaries overseas) care enough about 1 particular game (1 out of 2460), that they will come back with their tails between their legs? Especially, when the owners are trying to cut or redefine the type of revenue that the players can make from the extra-game event?

Wow... Talk about arrogance. I do feel bad for the Wings and Leafs fans that will be jobbed out of it though.

In other news, my fiance' were talking yesterday. We are heading to WDW this Dec. And BDLsgal brought up the topic of when we can go again. I started speculating 2+ yrs. BDLsgal made the point, about our season tickets "You know, if the season gets cancelled, that means that we have next season already paid off. Conceivably, we could go next year." And we left it open ended. But it's something to think about.

Come on Bounce Back offer....

PK Subban's side gig

Here is Subban doing the weather on CTV. And to be fair, he did a good job.

I'm so sad that we won't see a new Winter Classic. I sure hope the whole season doesn't get cencelled. Winter is bad enough, but without hockey - yuck! (Baseball just finished here in the Bay Area.) I'm just not crazy about football & basketball. Hockey & baseball are my sports.
