Dropping off and things to do at Port Canaveral...
I live in Orlando, so rather than pay for parking during our cruise, my best friend is going to be dropping us off and picking us up at Port Canaveral.
How easy is this process for personal cars? Where is the drop off at the terminal? And where can he park temporarily before the ship leaves? He wants to stay to watch us leave, so he will have four-ish hours to sit around and wait. Does anyone have any ideas on something for him to do while he waits to watch us head out?
We can always drive over on a weekend before I leave just to check things out. Thank you in advance for the advice and tips. I'm so excited for my first cruise!!

I don't think he can wait with you in the terminal. Here are some places near by. Jetty Park he can swim. Fishlips is a fun place you can get a drink or a bite to eat and watch the locals bring what they caught that day.
The drop off is very easy. He will be allowed to pull up and the porters will take your bags right out of the car.Be sure:
to have your luggage tags already on your suitcases
Have any paperwork you need not packed
Have a day bag packed with swimsuits your luggage is sent to your cabin and might not arrive for several hours.
Have a great cruise

As above, drop off and pick up is totally easy. You will follow the signs, pull up to the drop off and give your luggage to the porter.
For pick up, we had our friend wait at the McDonald's about 1/2 mile beyond the terminal. It was quick and easy, and took them maybe 10 minutes from the time we called till we were loading up.

He will not be able to wait for you at the terminal to watch you leave...only cars of people working there or cruising are allowed to park.
The links above are a good alternative. He can eat dinner at Fishlips and have a fantastic view of the ship as she comes down the channel to open water....Grill's is another one right on the channel.
And Rusty's is on the channel as well....we just ate there and it was very good.
