Is the heat really too miserable from July-Sept for a trip to WDW?

We were supposed to take our vacation to WDW and Disney Cruise in the spring but got postponed so now I am wondering if we could go sometime in the next couple of months or is it just too hot. My hubby said he has been hearing that the weather and humidity are just so bad during these months that it would be too miserable to go and a waste of money. He thinks we should wait until October when the weather has cooled down a bit but is still warm enough to enjoy the water parks and pools. I just am having major Disney withdrawals and want to go asap. But I dont want to go and have a miserable time. What are your thoughts? Also, is October hurricane time? I dont want to go on a disney cruise and get caught in a hurricane either

If you can, I would wait until October.....I know it sucks and you really want to go but it is NASTY hot down there in the summer. Heck in October don't be surprised if its 90, but the humidity will be down...AND you and your hubby can enjoy the Food and Wine Fest!

In July/August I find the heat to be high, but not unbearable. I'm from NC and it's pretty humid here most days too, so that's not my real issue with WDW at that time of year. The big problem to me is, mid-late summer brings thunderstorms most days and they are just long enough to be bothersome. Some days, they'll be short enough that you can duck in a store or out of the way for 15-30 minutes and be fine. Other days it'll rain for a longer period of time and you'll go wait on the buses. By the time you make it to your resort, the rain stops.

My sister and her family went in September a few years ago and really enjoyed it however. Crowds are still really high through Labor Day I think with kids being out of school for the summer, so that's another reason to avoid it. I think you could make plans for mid/late September and really enjoy it though, October is even better if you can hold out though!

It depends on your tolerance for heat and humidity. We live in Nebraska where we can have some pretty miserable summers- some with long stretches of dry heat waves and others with long stretches of humidity and heat together. So for us, we don't mind the summer trips to Disney. Just drink lots of water and take breaks! There are so many indoor attractions/restaurants to cool off in, so you would be fine.

We are from California and do not have a high tolerance for super high heat with humidity. Right forecasted to be 110 degrees outside today and it's pretty miserable here (we are not even venturing out if we can help it) but we don't have humidity. With humidity I imagine it would be a hundred times worse.

I can't stand hot and humid weather, but our last 2 trips to WDW have been in July and we're going back again next week. There are plenty of places in the parks to get out of the sun, just wear a hat and make sure you stay hydrated. Personally I've taken to wearing Under Armour Heat Tech shirts under my regular clothing, they really help.

We normally go in the summer and it is HOT! If you can wait until October it will be more comfortable - and you can do the Halloween Party.

Dh is a teacher, so our options are limited. We go EVERY August. We LOVE IT! Do we melt? Nope. True, it IS hot - like surface of the sun hot. However, we live in WI where it gets pretty hot and humid during the (very short) summer months, so by the time Aug. rolls around, we're acclimated to the heat and humidity. We stop in the air-conditioned shops and/or restaurants when we need a break while we're at the parks. We also do RD (and use EMH when available), stay in the parks til lunch, then head back to the resort for few hours of swimming/down time. We then head back to the resort for the evening. Staying out of the parks during the super heat of the day works for us. And there's almost always a rainstorm or 2 that pop up and cool you down (well, wet you down which somewhat cools you down.)

Is it crowded? Yep. But again, not awful and we're used to it. We fp anything that has over a 30 min. standby (well, as long as it has fp of course!) and always get to do all the rides we want multiple times per day.

If we could travel in early to mid-Sept., that would be ideal, but for us, summer works and it truly isn't unbearable.

Listen to your husband and go in the fall. We've gone a couple of times during the summer and several times in late Sept. I had a terrible time handling the heat+humidity.

As for hurricanes- it's already hurricane season. It lasts till late fall.

July-August the sun is set to 'Broil' in Florida. Add the crowds to that and you could have a miserable time if you're not ready / can't handle it. Mid-to-late September is better, and less crowded. If you can push it to October, it'll be even nicer.

In the past we have gone May or June mostly but this year because of DD22 and her boyfriends school/work schedule we are going in August. Are we a little nervous about the rain/storm, yes. Our plans are to hit rope drop, stay till it gets too hot then head to hotel, and then we will have early TS dinners and afterwards the sun should be going down and cooling off so then we can hit some not so popular rides while waiting for EMH to start. So in a nutshell if you go in August have a plan.

It really depends on your threshold for heat/humidity. We are from LA, and went to WDW last summer (July) with me at 6 months pregnant. It was pretty hot, but we had a great time.
