Lion king is on at Mandalay bay casino. It was wonderful and the kids loved it. It's also a taste of Disney too!

If you like the circus stuff all the cirque de Soleils are good except 'o' as its adult themed.

I was really keen to go to the Lion King next year. But apparently it is no longer showing in Las Vegas

O is not adult themed. The adult themed one is Zummanity at NY NY, it's got an age minimum, due to the semi-nude acts.

O is absolutely amazing, water themed, I think kids would like it. Le Reve at the Wynn is a blatant O rip off with a more adult theme, misogynistic lapsed Catholic imagery, I found it really tedious, but the people I went with hadn't seen O and were dazzled by the production with the water. About the only thing in it's favour is it's a much smaller theatre. (Le Reve is not a Cirque du Soleil show, it's a copy)

Mystere is the easiest Cirque show to get cheaper tickets for, they often hand out vouchers outside Treasure Island. I think that would wow most kids if they hadn't seen anything like it before.

I think most of the Cirque shows are about 2hr of performance plus a 30min intermission in the middle. I think that applies to most shows that are in the $100+ ticket bracket. Shorter shows are usually cheaper, though I remember going to some stuffy version of Riverdance/Lord of the Dance/some Irish dance show (stuffy as in minimal air-con stuffy) that seemed to go on for hours and hours and hours..... I find most Cirque shows feel like they are over much too soon

Thanks cola. That makes it 2/2 mistakes about Las Vegas shows. I shall withdraw quietly now......

it's really hard to suggest a hotel without more info from you. what is your budget, how do you like your hotels (i.e., luxury or basic), what are your plans while in vegas? right now, all you're going to get from people are opinions. there are just too many hotels to consider to get a broad answer like that.

i didn't read everyone's replies, but i thought i would mention a couple things. first, always factor in the resort fee in your nightly rate. the resort fee will vary, but there is no resort fee at CET hotels (i.e., paris, planet hollywood). second, i highly suggest vegas message board. i've been a member there for a couple of years, and everyone there is really nice and well informed.

i've stayed at the following hotels in the past 7 trips (in order of my preference):
bally's
paris
mgm (would stay here again if they got rid of resort fee)
monte carlo (would not stay here again)
luxor (would not stay here again)

good luck!
