Thanks for the TR and the good review on the tent. We are camping there for christmas and have decided on the 10 person tent. I know what campsite you are talking about down by lion country safari. Its a KOA site and is right by it. I am sure you can hear the animals with how close it is. This will be our first time camping too. Glad you had a good time.

We live 5 miles from Lion Country Safari, and yes you can hear the lions from the camp site! Neighbors near it can hear them from their homes!! They have tent and cabin camping there.

Enjoyed your trip report. I know what you mean about camping with someone else. My DH & I enjoy when our friends camp with us, but we also like the trips with just us. You don't feel like you have to occupy anyone.

As far as Lion Country in West Palm goes we have stayed there before & really liked it, but it has been about 4-5 yrs since we have been there. The campground is a KOA & it is connected to the park. They do activities like Ice Cream socials & Pancake breakfasts. It was a lot of fun & we were able to hear the animals from the safari at that time. I would love to go back now because when we went a hurricane had gone thru not long before & took out a lot of trees & such at the park. I would like to see what it looks like now.

Sounds like all in all a great trip! Understand entirely what you mean about camping with people. We enjoy the socializing, but are very much independent campers. You do your thing, we'll do ours and if we get together at night for dinner a few times (and for a campfire when we camp somewhere they allow them) then great. I don't like feeling like I have to be a hostess while on vacation.
