10 days to go!!! Suitcases are coming down from attic in a bit. I have about 5 packing lists bc when I would think of something else I want to pack, I wasn't home to add it. Brought kids shopping yesterday for shorts and jeans since all three decided to grow out of everything right before our trip :D. Sooooooo excited!!!

This is good advice; I always take an extra folding bag made out of sturdy parachute nylon that carries home a lot of gifts and other items that I acquire on my trip. It folds up small, but boy does it hold a lot going home. I just take it folded up in my suitcase going down and then fill it up with anything breakable, special, or valuable and treat it as a carry on going home.

Wow, good for you! I don't fly but every couple years or once a year. Could I get some type of credit if our fares have dropped? I'm not in their point program, but I always fly Southwest.

Does anyone else take a pharmacy with them? I take meds for every possible thing. Got really sick a few years ago and didn't have any meds. There wasn't much to chose from at the WL gift shop. And what was there was expensive. So now I pack meds for EVERYTHING!!
I have to take a lot of meds for my neuro muscular disease. They control my symptoms and pain. Plus I go prepared with meds for sinus and headache problems. It's not that big of a deal to me because I'm used to it. But, it's a good idea for anyone to be prepared; you never know when someone could get a headache or the sniffles and who wants to spoil a WDW trip?
We have 20 more days! I've been starting my packing and my Christmas decor here at home so I won't be overwhelmed when we get back.

Hello everyone! We had the big first birthday bash for my DS today. Disney themed of course, Cars. Glad to here more people checked in after Sandy to say they were ok. We have 22 days until Disney. Now that the birthday party is done I'm going to work on more shirts and more packing. My oldest DS and fiance are able to come now so I won't have to ride all of the rollercoasters Ha ha!

I always pack medicine we might need. My kids are very paticular about how medicine tastes so I pack what they like just incase they need to take something while we are away.

Reading the posts from this thread rely brightened my spirits. We are leaving in 2 days and should excited but we are going into day 7 without power since we were affected from the hurricane. My DH is a fire fighter and Red Cross Volunteer whom I haven't seen for days. I packed my two girls and myself today. But, I feel my heart is not in it. I hope we can leave all this behind when we hop on the plane Tues. and whatever we forgot, we can buy. It has really been one hell of a week and trying to think good and warm thoughts.

less than 2 weeks

Having a "scavenger hunt" tomorrow night to tell the 4 grandchildren they're all going to Disney World in less than 2 weeks! We've all had a hard time keeping the surprise (since April). Can't wait to see their faces and reactions (got the cam-corder charged and ready). There will be 9 of us in total. Got our Disney pins (ebay) yesterday and the Photo Pass plus (now only $149) on the way. Staying at Bonnet Creek (new owners -ebay). First time for spending Thanksgiving at Disney, have been there several other times for the Holidays, was there in Magic Kingdom for New Years 2000 (yes it was nuts) and even proposed to my now wife at midnight at the Castle then. Only wish my son-in-law could be there... passed away in late August... he has been and will be missed.

We will be winding our trip down in Disney while you all will just be starting your adventure!! Any chance we could meet up since you will be at POR same as us....although we will be at Universal at the Holiday Inn and Suites for that part- BUT we could arrange a time to meet somewhere- as we will have 1 day left on our passes the week we are in Unviersal so we do plan another park day- just let me know what might fit your schedule- even if its just to say hello and see each other for few minutes. Would love to meet your beautiful girls.

I get 1 more payday before we leave and that has to go to pay off rest of our Universal part of trip and extra spend $$$- we all need that right?? lol!! Tomorrow is the day I can finally do the online check in- have never done this before but does it really save time?? How does it work?? Ive read that everything is ready when you get there cards included- do they still have to swipe you credit card or do you get to bypass that part if you have already provided them your CC information??? Was just wondering. Thanks all. Have a great day!!
When you check in they will ask if the cc on file is the one you want to attach to your room. If it is, you won't need to do anything else. We have done online check-in since it began and have never had to wait in line. I realize this isn't always the case, but if there is a long line in the on-line check in, and none in the regular check-in, just go there. They can pull your packet as well. I think you'll be glad you did the online check-in. Hope your experience is as good as ours have been!

Oh my! So glad you finally have power!! I watched the news and just shook my head, wondering how people were managing. So sad. Glad you guys are ok. Now, you can really recover while at Disney!!!!

Awww, that is so sad. I think your trip will help to get you out of the funk. I'm so glad you have that to look forward to. Yes, there are bigger issues at hand, but just leave that all behind and enjoy your trip and all the wonderful memories you'll be making with your family. Your DH is a hero and deserves this break from reality. So glad you have it planned! Just hang out with us and we'll get you pumped for your trip!

Wow! You said so much in such a short paragraph! First, how exciting to have a scavenger hunt to tell the grandkids! That is a great idea. Hope you can post some pics.

Sounds like you've got everything in control and in place. I've heard Bonnet Creek is awesome. It will be crazy busy during Thanksgiving, but if you survived New Years 2000, you'll be fine!

So very sad about your son-in-law! I know he will be in your hearts during your trip.

Have a magical trip!

Good times are on there way! I always think of Disney as a respite from, well, normal life-work-stress, but this one will be extra special, as you will even be appreciating the "little" things like electricity and hot water! Couldn't tell from your message, is your DH able to join you? Hope you have a great and restful trip!!!

We too will be going right after Tgiving with DH's sister and young daughter who lost husband/dad last year. Makes things all the more precious, yes? Here's to building new great happy memories on top of the wonderful old!
