I know! It's just that I'm an absolutely awful public napper...awful!

Exactly!! See if we introduce broadway style dental experiences... well the whole world would enjoy dental visits more!

Woohoo! Go Mom with her Soarin' marathon! That's awesome. GAH I want to go to Disneyland so bad. I flat out can't believe I've never gone before... it's just not right!

Yessss you need to go!! You HAVE to go!!! We are going back next December and even though it's ages away I can't wait!!! Disneyland is amazingggg!

That CM was so right about Swamp, Swamp, Gator, DISNEY!!, Swamp. After visiting my friend who lives in FL I can tell you there is not a lot going on. We had to drive an hour, to Sarasota, to even get to a town that showed any signs of life. I went to Miami once and that was awesome, but besides that... SWAMP. For real.

Yeah there really is a whole lotta swamp in that state...but then they have Disney...
So they still win!

Your illustrations are my favorite thing in the world. I keep thinking they can't get better... and then they do!

Haha thanks- Josh has threatened to take the ipad back because I make everyone look too creepy in my pictures, so I'm glad you appreciate them

YAY you saw our Frogfish Friends Paul and Ringo!!!!!

Such loveable little guys!!

Aww poor Josh. Gotta love his jump in attitude though.

Yeahhhhh! He jumped in and married me in Vegas so i can't complain

LOL I can just picture you on the Ellen ride, arms and legs strewn about, sound asleep. It's actually a good attraction just DARK and loooong. At least you got a refreshing nap in!
It was very refreshing, but I pity the other people in the car though.
Really wish I was an attractive sleeper but I am coming to terms that I am not and that will never change.

I will totally do that! And the general public WILL thank me!

Your pictures are fantastic and really making me wish I was in Epcot but what else is new?

I knowwww! Reading trip reports is bitter sweet. I love reading other peoples adventures but all the gorgeous pictures and the food descriptions make me just want to be there...and very very hungry!!

I wish someone would accidentally send me a video from the future! Those things always CRACK ME UP so I'd love to view a random person's future.

I would love it too!!! In fact next time I'm there maybe I'll just start typing in random email addresses... make some new friends ya know?

Aw poor Josh! I hope he wasn't sick long.

Pooor Joshy...Too much Beverely is never a good thing

Those nachos look so good! Josh probably wouldn't have thought so though.

Well even when he hasn't overdone the Beverely Josh does not like liquid cheese (For some craaazzy reason) But yes they were delicious and I just want to eat them all day every day!

I'm sure that's it!!! Ahhh I'll have to take a picture of the trip journal from around that time. It's quite a trip itself. Lots of scribbling and nonsensical words all over the place.

Oh liquid cheese. I think it's one of those things that you don't appreciate unless you don't have it anymore. Have you had the Velveeta experience? It's solid, but melts and is just like the liquid cheese! Much like Spam it could survive an apocalypse, so I'm sure you could order some!

I'm sorry what is this glorious sounding thing????
I need to find it and eat it as soon as possible!!!

Poor Josh. I can only imagine his discomfort. It's bad enough just to be that hot early in the day, but to be nauseous as well...

Yeah he was quite sick the poor thing. He also had poison ivy from the week before the trip AND sunburn. He was a bit of a mess those first few days in Orlando

Yay for nap time!
It was sooooooo lovely and refreshing!

I really wish bumming around on the disboards was my job too!

I was at the idea that you laminated your driving plans. But only because this is completely something I would do for a spontaneous trip.

It was spontaneous but I'm still me! So glad you agree!!

EEEK- I can't believe that ordeal at border patrol!

It was terrifying!
Dammit Tim- always gonna blame his ghetto-wear!

Our GPS has a name too- we call her Wanda because she usually has us wanda this way and that...

That is an amazing name!!!!

So glad you made it into Florida- can't wait to read more... now off to feed these kids and go shopping so they can eat next week too.

Can't wait to share the rest of the trip...oh and the dreaded drive home

You write so well, and I love the drawings too

Thanks so much!! They are a little nutty but hopefully they get the point across!

The road trip sounds exciting but exhausting at the same time!

It was!! We were soooo beat when we got there! I think if I ever did it again I would definitely stay the night along the way.

'Disnep' with a silent 'p' - amazing we went with family in August, and the youngest member of the group (aged 7) always referred to Epcot as 'Epricot' (pronounced like 'apricot') which was pretty cute!!

Awhhh that is adorable!!! I think I will refer to it as Epricot from now on.
lol My mum thought Epcot was called 'putt putt' for ages due to spaceship earth

Yes we are definitely supposed to cry during the opening show at Magic Kingdom, that's why I wear big sunglasses ... so sorry you lost a pair on Space Mountain! I always forget I'm wearing them on my head too.

I was a sobbing mess at the end if the welcome show!!! So much happiness all at once!!! Haha I have learnt my lesson to always take my cheap sunnies to Disney

Looking forward to reading more!

Yay should get to an update shortly!

Yikes, 10 cups of each Club Cool drink... Hope Josh got to feeling better!

So, as I was reading about you having a drink, then wanting to ride Ellen, I thought to myself, "If I got on such a long ride in the AC after putting alcohol in me, I'd be asleep in minutes." So when I discovered you had that same issue I had to laugh. Yes, you might've missed a whole Disney ride, but you got yourself nice and refreshed for the rest of the day at Epcot. Sounds like a win to me!

REAL LIFE UPDATEEEE!

Oh goodness what a hiatus that was! I can't believe how much real life erupted with craziness in the last few weeks! To the point where I have been doing hardly any recreational internetting and I do not like it! No sir, not one bit!!
I'm really sorry guys-I'm back now and things are winding down in life (hopefully)
But heres a quick recap over the last few weeks.

I had my works annual concert for all the kids in the entire state, which is pretty much the most important day of the year.
I know it doesn't sound that crazy but getting hundreds and hundreds of kids from all around the state on stage to sing and dance without any major casualties is not as easy as it sounds.
We then got to go on national TV and radio to perform which was awesome but so tiring. Breakfast radio hosts now have a lot more respect from me now. I am so impressed that they get to work at 4:30am!! I can't even comprehend that.

I also had a birthday, and threw a 'ridiculous headwear' dinner and wore this!

and got these!!!

and this!! (along with many other great things)

I did this to my ankle by posing on top of a rock, losing my balance and falling off.

Aaaand we went away to a beach town up the coast called Noosa for a few days to escape the craziness of this time of year which was amazing.
Sometimes you just need a few days away from life to get your head straight.

So not that much craziness, but it has felt like a lot!!
I guess it's just that time of year
I hope everyone is having a fabulous December and holiday season x

CHAPTER 11
Catch That Mongoose and Awkward Interactions Anonymous

After our refreshing nap on Ellen it was time to be shot around Mars on the vomit inducing Mission:SPACE.
Bek was a little apprehensive about the ridiculous amount of warning signs at the entrance so she decided to pass.
I don't blame her as those warnings signs are a bit intense when you think about it. Pair that with the very serious recordings that play the whole time you are in the queue and it is quite the build up.
I actually think those warnings and signs make me feel nauseous just by power of persuasion. It gets to the point where, even though I have never thrown up on a ride, I convince myself that maybe I DO get motion sickness and maybe I did pick the wrong side!!

YOU WILL MOST LIKELY DIE!!!!!!!.... but come on in kids&.

So just Tim were paired with an elderly couple who seemed quite normal at first. If life has taught me anything it is ALWAYS be wary of people who seem normal at first. Just as we suspected they turned very un-normal once we were locked in a small enclosed space with them.Turns out they were SUPER keen about space travel and were way more verbal than the average fake space traveller. As soon as we were locked in our pod it all became clear that our trip around Mars would be one to remember. Tim was on the far left so I was wedged between him and 'I am very serious about my fake space travel' woman. We had only just blasted off when suddenly they were both screaming at the top of their lungs at the screen as well as us.

ARHHHH IT"S GOING TO BE A CLOSE ONE!!!!!!!

HYPERSLEEP TIME!!! GO GO GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

WATCH OUT FOR THE METEOR!!!!!!

PUSH THE BUTTON COMMANDER&&YOU HAD BETTER PUSHHHH IT!!!!!!!

PUSH THE DAMN BUTTON!!!! WERE GOING TO DIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

It was quite intense.

There was some time in that pod when I thought she was going to scream explicits at me and possibly attack me physically just for taking too much time to press my fake button.

It was a very surreal trip.
I love when people get into character BUT I feared for my life in that pod.
When they were leaving Tim and I noticed they were wearing Mission Space shirts AND they seemed to be heading back towards the entry to the ride. I can't confirm this but I have a feeling that they just ride it all day every day and scream at people. Ah well, takes all kinds...

After that ordeal I felt like I needed a stiff drink.
Buutttt with the mix of sun and exhaustion I knew that would be a surefire recipe for another nap and we had far too much to do.

We headed back around showcase as we were on a mission. A Norwegian mission to be exact.

School bread!!

Well not for me.
I cant actually eat gluten
Yes unfortunately for my Disney eating obsession&I am gluten intolerant!
Which means no school bread for me&or any kind of bread for that matter.
However I do make other people eat it in front of me and get my pleasure form that.
This also goes for red velvet cupcakes, cinnamon scrolls and a whole list of other delicious Disney foods that I cant experience. I'm counting on the fact that one day when I die and go to Disney heaven I know that all these amazing foods will be waiting for me.
Seriously though- anyone else out there can't have gluten? Sad times!
Its fine though&. Babycakes in DTD saved my soul.
I ate my weight in donuts the last trip. Perfectly acceptable.

After school bread we hit up Maelstrom to visit the creepisest fish killing child known to man. You know the one&

It's cool little boy, you just gut that fish while you smile out at the world. Lots of people get pleasure from all that blood and guts. Who knows, maybe you'll grow up to have a successful TV show like Dexter?
Whenever I think of Norway that kids soul-less dark eyes appear.
Oh and trolls.
Seriously love Maelstrom, it's such an odd little ride but it's incredibly endearing at the same time. If I was Norwegian I would be proud to have a ride like that representing my country.

Next we swung past China and spent some time looking around the ponds.
I love every inch of world showcase and all the little nooks and crannies. I swear you can never get sick of Epcot because there is so much to discover and each trip the amazingness just seems to multiply. Actually make that all of WDW, just when you think it isn't possible to love it any more, it sucks you in deeper and you fall even harder for all it has to offer.
It's so lovely and peaceful in China, beautiful in every possible way... oh except for one thing. Unfortunately we made quite a sad discovery in one of the ponds.
This next photo is titled YOURE SLIPPIN DISNEY

Dead guppy? What is this Six Flags? Ugh youre going downhill Disney&

It was just after China that I managed to get super awkward.
It wasnt my intention it just sort of happened all because of a lizard that was sunning himself next to the leg of a bench.

Awwhhhhh

I find the Disney lizards quite adorable and can't resist their cuteness so when I saw this little guy I leaned right down and in my best lizardy voice gave a very enthusiastic Whyyy hello my new fwwwiend!!!! Hows your day beeeeeeeeen?? (you really need to picture that said in a lizard voice) Well that would have been ok if I hadnt caught the attention of the elderly man sitting on the bench near the lizard. He thought I was addressing him as my new friend, so he proceeded to answer and say hello back and that he was doing well.
Now I was faced with a dilemma- did I tell the man I was actually conversing wth the lizard and risk embarrassing him (and myself for talking to a lizard in public)? Or did I just keep the conversation going with my newly found over the top lizardy voice.
If you guessed the latter you are correct. I kept my lizard voice up the whole time and made a new friend in John from Ontario. I don't really remember what we talked about other than how great WDW was, and how horrible the heat was that day oh and about our home towns. The others witnessed the whole thing and I was once again crowned the awkward queen of the group&
Bek won the title back a few days later with a super awkward flirting attempt at Universal Studios.

After I had bid farewell to my new friends, both the reptile and the human, we continued to tour the world, ducking in and out of countries and enjoying the local flavours. By flavours I mean people balancing on chairs and being hilarious in general &.with accents. Gosh I love the Epcot street performers!
Imagine if that was your job& if you were French chair balancing guy!
I would love to say that I balance on top of chairs that are resting on fake bottles of wine for a living. Especially if people ask where you do that and you can say fake France, right outside the restaurant with the talking rat.
That guy is living the dream!!!!

You go chair guy Go FOR GOLD!

After we had completed our lap it was approximately 3000000 degrees and early evening so we decided to head back to the house for a swim and skip illuminations& I know I know but crazy summer Florida heat can sometimes mess with your head an convince you that resting in the air conditioned house is better than standing around for a few more hours. So silly!

There was more that happened in Epcot but unfortunately my 'detailed' journal from this portion of the day is just a whole lot of cursing at the Floridian sun.

Oh the way out we waved goodbye to spaceship earth, as you do and headed towards the monorail. Josh had taken the car before when he left and was picking us up at TTC.

We made the mistake of sitting on a bench for a minute and almost had another Ellen moment.

We weren't tired at all...

This is when a magical mythical creature ran right across our path and stopped us in our tracks.

WHATTTT ARE YOUUUUUUU!!!!?????

It was like a long furry snake, or a stretched out possum, or a super friendly fox!!

He was to fast and sneaky for us to get a picture or pat him (yes I tried) but he is one of these guys&

Later I found out its called a mongoose.
But seriously America- where have you been hiding these cuties?
I had never seen anything like it in my life!
So flippin cute and funny looking!!
I just want to hug his face all day every day!!!!

Im sorry if that was an anticlimax.

We just dont have anything like that here.

You should have seen me the first time I saw a squirrel.

Next up- Making Enemies along the Kali River and Hit Me With Your Pet Shark!

Exactly! I got to see the pre-show aaaand have a refreshing nap. Wins all around! I just wish I was a prettier napper in public, but that's life.
Seriously though all that alcohol and sun is the perfect combination for a nap.

He seriously is all silent and peaceful looking... everything I would like to be when I sleep.
Billie Jean is a new one though!!

Happy belated birthday! Ahhhh I'm so sorry about your ankle!!!

Oh my goodness. I would honestly be terrified of those old Mission: SPACE loving folks. I'd probably cry or something. THEN THEY'D BE SORRY.

Your stories never fail to crack me up!!! WHAT? What the heck is a mongoose?! I honestly have never seen one!

Wow, those people on Mission Space. Don't get me wrong, I get into the rides, but not to the extent that they did. I could just see them freaking out at you for not pushing the button....

I don't think I've ever noticed the gut-fishing boy on Maelstorm before! I've been on that ride a million times; I can't believe something like that has passed me by. Where's he at???

I can't blame you for skipping IllumiNations and going back to the house. It can get so hot in Disney.

UGH.

Nice lizard speaking moment. Way to roll with it though!

OKAY SO! I was scrolling up to read your latest update, and I came across the photo of the creepy fish-gutting child and immediately thought, "OMG, if she even brings up how creepy this little boy is gutting the fish with that smile on my face, I will die." Main reason is because I ALWAYS point that out when we go on Maelstrom! Sure enough, you did and so basically that just makes you awesome and yeah, I just had to share that with you.

Like, I showed it to Matt (my husband) and he laughed.

ANYWAY.

Um, I'm literally laughing out loud over here to the point of tears about the old couple screaming at you on Mission Space. Like, I just can't even imagine what I would do in that situation!

OH SCHOOL BREAD. My favorite Disney snack. It's so magical.

And now I'm sad because you can't eat it. Wompwomp.

Still laughing at the Maelstrom boy. I for some reason thought I was the only person who noticed him and his creepiness. Matt always points out the ridiculousness of a cruise director being on the mural. Like clearly, that cruise director is going to make you REALLY want to visit Norway. I don't really understand that mural, the more I think about it.

Hahaha your dead fish photo, nooooo. Why are the most ridiculous things happening on this trip? It's kind of amazing... Okay that sounded way worse than I meant it... Dead fish aren't amazing.

Nope, things just get more hilarious with your friend John in Ontario. It just never ends.

I can't watch the guy in France; I get so nervous something will go wrong and he will fall to his death. I just can't handle it and basically run away.

Can't wait to hear your next update. Obviously I sang "HIT ME WITH YOUR PET SHARK!" over here.

I just about spit my coffee out on the part about the creepy fish boy on Maelstrom! I know exactly where he is on that big mural.

You're too funny!!! YES!!! ...crying is how we will bring them down!! TAKE THAT OVERLY ENTHUSIASTIC ELDERLY COUPLE!!!

Ok well now you're the second person to say that...so maybe I'm wrong and google has mislead me. Does Florida have any other animals that look exactly like that and roam freely in the Epcot parking lot???

I know! It's crazy!! Especially walking around World Showcase despite how much I love it, it seriously makes me melt into a puddle of tears and sweat sometimes.

Yeah, he was not in a good way at all poor boy.
But at least he learnt his lesson about chugging copious amounts of foreign soda on days over 100 degrees.

UGH.

Main reason is because I ALWAYS point that out when we go on Maelstrom! Sure enough, you did and so basically that just makes you awesome and yeah, I just had to share that with you.

YAYYY!!! It's seriously the first thing I think of when I think of Maelstrom!!!
YOU my friend are awesome for fully appreciating creepy fish gutting boy!

Like, I showed it to Matt (my husband) and he laughed.

High fives for Matt!!

ANYWAY.

Um, I'm literally laughing out loud over here to the point of tears about the old couple screaming at you on Mission Space. Like, I just can't even imagine what I would do in that situation!

I didn't know what to do!! What can one do when that happens??
You can't smile and slowly back away when you're stuck in a pod!!

OH SCHOOL BREAD. My favorite Disney snack. It's so magical.

And now I'm sad because you can't eat it. Wompwomp.

So sad!!! I totally make people eat things in front of me and describe them to me in detail when I can't have them. A bit weird but it takes away some of the pain

Yay lets talk about him some more!! Why is he enjoying gutting the fish so much?? What is he thinking behind those cold soul-less eyes?? Why can't he be more like his serious cutting friend next to him?
Gah I've never noticed the cruise director, too busy with fish gutting boy but it sounds like some very silly placement!!
THE MURAL MAKES NO SENSE!!!

Hahaha your dead fish photo, nooooo. Why are the most ridiculous things happening on this trip? It's kind of amazing... Okay that sounded way worse than I meant it... Dead fish aren't amazing.

This is my favourite paragraph ever!!!

Nope, things just get more hilarious with your friend John in Ontario. It just never ends.

I love new friends, especially the onces I make while trying to converse with lizards...favourites!

I can't watch the guy in France; I get so nervous something will go wrong and he will fall to his death. I just can't handle it and basically run away.

Yeah I'm a bit like that but he is so tiny and light that I am sure if he started to fall I could spring into action and catch him with one hand.

Ok that was a lie... all lies. But he is pretty freakin small!

Can't wait to hear your next update. Obviously I sang "HIT ME WITH YOUR PET SHARK!" over here.
It's probably my favourite mis-heard lyric to belt out EVER!

I just about spit my coffee out on the part about the creepy fish boy on Maelstrom! I know exactly where he is on that big mural.
Isn't he the creepiest?? Why on earth is he so happy to be gutting???
