Pixarmom: Those are simply lovely pics. We were on that exact same side in September. My only complaint was hearing those little Disney cleaning mice with leafblowers at 7:30 in the morning out by the back doors.

NM: Sorry about what you've been going through, NM... my best wishes and thoughts to you and your family.

Pixarmom: Wow! I love your pictures! Your room location is absolutely phenomenal! Pixie Dust is alive and well at BC.

NM: I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Please know that I am praying for you, your mom and your family during this time. I'm sure your wonderful sense of humor is bringing a smile to your mom's face just as you bring a smile to all here on this thread.

Ninja Mom- I am so sorry for all your mom and your family are going through. It is heartwarming to know that the final moments have been comforting to everyone. Wishing you peace and sending love.

pixarmom- fantastic tour around the Beach Club. That IS a great room!!! We had a similar room on our first stay at the BC, overlooking the courtyard. Mark LOVED the people-watching from there.

Teena, are you getting sick of Flat Ben yet? How would one put that on a resume?

What is going on with the negative reviews of BC? I saw one on a thread that sounded so outrageous, wasn't sure if it could be true! Not worried after seeing Pixarmoms beautiful pics but was just curious if housekeeping on a daily basis was difficult. We will be there in Dec.
I have to say, I love this thread. I read it almost everyday. Don't contribute much but I enjoy reading everyone's posts.

I was so reassured by Pixarmom's photos. I hope all is now well at BC.

It's not a BC problem. You can go to any resort, Disney or non-Disney, and get a housekeeper that just doesn't care. It's up to the housekeeper to call in things that need to be fixed. If a housekeeper cleans a room and sees light bulbs out, toilets broken, other things wrong from the existing or previous guest, they call it in. They are also suppose to clean the room perfectly every day. Does it happen in each and every resort (Disney, Hilton, Motel 6, etc.) in each and every room? Absolutely not. The last time we stayed in a room at the BC, we had fantastic room cleaning every day except one. It was obviously a different housekeeper that day. Just as in any job anywhere, you are going to get people that just don't care about the job they do.

If you check into a room and it is not properly cleaned or maintained (when I say maintained, please don't think a room is going to look like a brand new resort every day ... naturally there will be knicks here and there and some marks on the wall, etc. --- but your room should be CLEAN AND WELL MAINTAINED), you should do one of two things. (1) Walk back down to the front desk and ask to speak to a front desk manager and tell them what is wrong and ask to be moved to another room in a different location (since you obviously want to get away from that housekeeper's section) OR (2) call "housekeeping" on your phone from your room and demand that a housekeeping manager be sent to your room ASAP. Don't take no for an answer. When the housekeeping manager comes to your room, show them what is not satisfactory. They will either move you to another room or have it taken care of immediately (depending on what is wrong).

I personally recommend #2 above because the proper housekeeping manager will get to see the problem and hopefully make sure that housekeeper is held responsible.

There isn't a housekeeping problem at the BC any more than there is at any other hotel on or off Disney property. Just as in any job, there are people that just don't care about the job they do. Management can't fix it if they don't know there's a problem. Disney management wants you to have a clean room. They want you to have a fantastic vacation. The housekeeping managers do not know that a room isn't cleaned properly or maintained if they aren't told. By you letting them know and letting them see the problem, they can hold the particular housekeeper responsible.

Great reply Teena. I did not know proper procedure if I did find a 'bad room'.

We've had wonderful housekeeping and so-so housekeepers before. (Never bad). I think the former far out wiegh the latter but a bad housekeeper experience can and will happen. Same with maintenance, waitress, bellman, etc. But that's why we keep coming back to WDW and Y&BC in particular. Wonderful service and wonderful people!

NM You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I agree with you Teena, it does happen just about anywhere. Perhaps the management at YC/BC should start having Housekeeping supervisors go from room to room to check. This would need to be done later in the day, after the housekeepers have had a chance to make up the rooms.

On several of the DCL cruises we've been on, a Housekeeping supervisor would stop by every day to make certain that we were happy with the way our cabin was being serviced. If we weren't in the cabin, they would go in and check for themselves. If nothing else, the housekeepers would know that their work was being looked at and they would have more incentive to do a good job.

Unfortunately they would have to hire loads of more housekeeping managers to do that. However, personally ... just my opinion ... but I think there should be "inspectors" that are hired just to inspect rooms every day. Not just at Disney but everywhere. I go to Vegas alot for fun (besides visiting my daughter) and stay in lots of different casinos. I've had spotless rooms and dirty rooms in the same resort. Inspectors would eliminate the problem in my opinion.
