Just stopping by to say hi to everyone. Sadly we don't have a trip booked yet, but I *know* we are going in the fall again next year. It just feels so much real when it is booked.

Hope everyone at the Lodge is enjoying themselves. Hope everyone who just came back is still enjoying the wonderful memories fresh in their minds. Anyone who is about to go I wish you the safest of travels!

Haha yes she said yes!! She was very surprised. We have pictures and video luckily so once I get some up I will post them here.

We are looking at doing a very small legal ceremony somewhere at WDW and then having our actual wedding on the Disney Dream in the summer of 2014!

Were you there after 12/2? I don't know if this will help you at all, but ktlm posted this HERE on 12/11:

I don't know if they have cards in the room yet or if they are going to, as several people seem to have gotten the offer by E-mail during their stay. The offer went into WDW's system as available the morning Dec. 2. Any time you don't have a card in the room, you can always dial extension 8844 from the room phone and ask what is available (I called Dec 1, and nothing and Dec. 2, the new offer came out). The front desk usually isn't much help, so be sure to dial 8844, which is the bounceback offer extension. Also be aware that they no longer are going by the day you check in like they did in the past, and applying the discount to your whole stay. If only the first 2 days of your trip are bounceback dates, then you only get the discount for those 2 days, and you pay full price the rest of the trip.

The e-mail people have been getting states:

Get 30%* off the non-discounted price
at select Disney Moderate Resorts.
For the perfect combination of value, amenities and recreation, look no further than a Disney Moderate Resort where you'll find spectacular settings, great dining options and exciting pools with slides!

Get 35%* off the non-discounted price
at select Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts.
Experience homelike amenities such as kitchenettes in a studio, or ask about one- or two-bedroom deluxe villa and enjoy more space and extras like a full kitchen and whirlpool tub!

Get 35%* off the non-discounted price
at select Disney Deluxe Resorts.
These Resorts boast the highest level of quality, convenience, themeing and service around. And at each one, you'll discover great pools, hot tubs and more.

For stays most nights:
1/2—1/10/13
1/14—1/15/13
1/21—2/12/13
2/24—3/9/13
4/14—5/21/13

11/17—11/23/13
11/30—12/4/13

Book now. Call 8844 before you check out. Ask for booking code R9O.

Proposal photos would be fab! What a dreamy wedding you have planned! I think WL would be perfect for your small legal ceremony

My Fiancée and I are flying to Disney World this Sunday. We were originally booked for Port Orleans Riverside from December 16th-23rd. Today he begged me to call Disney and see if there was any availability at Wilderness Lodge so we can upgrade (he had fallen in love with the resort while looking up pictures online). Yes, that is correct…we changed our reservations 3 days before we are due to arrive . Yes, we are crazy. I am freaking out. This entire time I have planned our trip based around our stay at POR, I knew which was the best bus stop to use, what the fastest way to get to the lobby etc. I have never stayed at Wilderness Lodge before let alone a deluxe. I have no idea what I am in for! I have been thrown for a loop ever since we changed our ressies for WL a couple of hours ago. What are the basic things I need to know about this resort? I am going to try to read back as much as I can through this thread. Any advice or tips are greatly appreciated!

Congratulations on the upgrade, especially with such short notice at Christmastime. The WL is going to be so beautiful, it should be great.

Compared to POR there isn't much to worry about because the resort is relatively compact. There is one bus stop, right in front between WL and VWL, and there are busses for each park, FW, and DTD. You do have the option of boat transportation to CR, FW, or MK which takes a little longer but is a beautiful trip and worth doing at least once. Roaring Fork is centrally located down on the pool level between the two wings of the hotel and is a great snack bar and your mug refill spot. Everything at WL is under one roof, so you should figure it out pretty quick. Enjoy the decorations, the great atmosphere, the views of Bay Lake, and the proximity to MK. Have a great time!

We did the same thing in October. We were going to stay at AoA and changed 1 day before our package started, after spending the night at Pop. We were so glad we switched.

Rub Humphrey's (the bear on the bottom of the totem pole in front of the Mercantile) nose for good luck and the rest will take care of itself.

Also be prepared to not want to go back to POR after you stay at WL.

We prefer the boat to MK over the bus. It's an enjoyable relaxing trip over the lake.

If you aren't in a rush and want to try the monorail - take the boat to the Contemporary, then the monorail to TTC, then to Epcot. Everyone has to ride the monorail once while at Disney. Depending on how much extra time you have, you can ride the monorail and stop at all the other Deluxes to look around and realize what a great choice you made staying at WL instead of any of the other Deluxes.

When you come back grab a drink and sit by the big fireplace in the lobby.

Depending on the room you get you may be able to see the MK fireworks if you are in the North wing.

The Electric Water Parade is a little hokey (but it's classic Disney), so head out to the beach at 9:35.

Don't know if they are booked out yet but you might want to try the sleigh/carriage ride from Ft. Wilderness. While WL has a great feel during the day, it's even more awesome at night.

Enjoy!

I'm am beyond excited right now!!! We did it! We booked our first ever WL Christmas trip!!! We have never been during the Christmas season and on top of it....we will be there for my bday!!!!!! So we are thrilled. We requested north wing / top floor and I booked a woods view room... Do I need to call back and ask for a MK side? I was thinking other side of wing would be court view. Am I correct? Just wanted to make sure we are in the MK side... Again I do realize its just a request but hoping it will work out since we booked this early!!!! Soooooo excited!

Welcome! You know, we have a thread just for you - The Resort Changers' Thread. I'm not naming names, but some of us, I mean them, have even changed resorts mid-trip, at check-in... You have plenty of time to regroup. You're going to love WL!

You've gotten some great advice already. There is a free Lodge tour and more activities/photos listed on the first page. One thing that sometimes gets overlooked is that there is actually a non-stop bus from/to WL and the MK in addition to the (Red Flag) MK boat. And, don't overlook FW. You can walk or boat right to it - lots of fun to be found in the wilderness and good eats, too

Congratulations! Yes, the North Wing is the MK/CR/Castle side and the South Wing is the VWL side. Make sure that your birthday is noted in your reservation. Happy planning!

I echo what the others have said. I would simply add that you should make sure to take some time to just bask in the ambience of the lodge. From the moment you walk through the front door, you will be forever connected to the Lodge. It truly has a personality of its own. So warm and inviting and comforting. My wife and I are DVC owners with our home resort being VWL. It is always good to go home.

current BB offer

We're currently at WL. No BB flyer in the room, but we received the BB email this morning. Same dates and discounts that everyone has been reporting.

Bummer! We checked out on the 3rd, but I did not receive an email (and I am signed up to get everything!) I doubt calling will do me any good, but I'm going to give it a try later today. I know we'll be back next year for another Christmas spirit trip

Quick question. . .we'll be at the Lodge in March (97 days ). I have a valet parking question--if the cost is per day, is it actual day or is it a 24-hour period? We will get there about 9:30 am or so on a Thursday and leave about that same time on Sunday. I just couldn't figure out if that was 4 days or 3? I just like to know which to expect (not that I'm a compulsive planner or anything!!).
