Morning all. The girls and I are riding up to Truckee with my parents today. We had discussed spending the night but Katy is getting her cast off first thing tomorrow morning so won't happen. We were really hoping to go up for Thanksgiving but they rented it for 4 months starting next week. So we are going up today to get it all ready for the people to move in. Hopefully taking the girls to do some ice skating. It is only 4 degrees up there. YIKES. I like cold but not THAT cold. Hope I put on enough layers.

Katy's regular season of cheer is over but now we hit comp and possibly have to start practices again the week after thanksgiving. I was hoping for a longer break but so be it. It is all leading up to Nationals at DL the weekend of the ladies trip so hopefully it will all be worth it.

Can't remember if I posted but we had a SYF comp last weekend and everyone of our teams took first which was awesome.

Hope everyone is having a fun weekend and if you get tomorrow off enjoy!

I'm baking tomorrow. An apple pecan tart. That's about it.
I baked a pumpkin cheesecake yesterday. Apple pecan tart sounds good! Wanna share the recipe?

I like the colder weather, but it's making my skin so dry!

Hello everyone!

Beth, it's cold here too! And the Sierras look fabulous.....all covered with snow.

Hey Michelle! So good to see you around here. Are you coming next year?

Paula, I hope it works out for you to make it!

Lisa, I hear you on the remodeling and replacing issues. We are still in that process, and it never seems to end.

Here ya go.

One 10 inch pie crust.

Filling
1/2 cup sugar
4 teaspoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons cinnamon
4 cups thinly sliced tart apples
1/4 cups chopped pecans.

Mix filling and spread on crust to within 2 inches of edge. Fold crust edge over filling to form a 2 inch border. Brush edge with water and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake 15 minutes then sprinkle with pecans and bake an additional 10 - 15 minutes until apples are tender.
Serve warm with fresh whipped cream.

I'm. Up. Way. Too. Early.
Well, it's a Monday, and I am usually up this early during the week, but given the fact there isn't any school, I am up way to early.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Oh Beth I know what you mean. I get up between 5 and 5:30 every morning to get the girls up for school. I TRY to sleep in on weekends and holidays but most times I have WAY too much running through my head. This morning my cats decided they were going to run around my room, try to get into stuff etc and then my alarm on my phone is set to go off on weekdays so between all that I said to heck with it and just got up LOL.

My girls have the day off as well and I am taking Katy to get her cast off and then possibly doing something fun. Will have to see.

Have a fun day off with your kiddos!

That was me yesterday, up too early!! lol
We had a great time Saturday at the birthday party, ate at BJ's and then went back to her place where we played games for a few hours, then it was home to bed for me. I had to get up at 5:30 am to get ready for working the game. We met at the school at 6:15 am and then headed out for the longest day ever. LOL Got to The Stick (Candlestick park) where we got to work setting up our booths, we have to stock them with food and drinks and put out things like ketchup, mayo, mustard, napkins, the big containers of onions, etc. Then we have to set up our registers and get a quick lesson in how they work. Did all that then grabbed a sausage to eat from one of the carts we were working (we had 1 sausage stand, 1 burger stand and 3 portable beer carts), the gates were supposed to open at 11:15 but they opened at 10:15 so I was still eating my food when they opened, but I took my time and finished that and then went back to my booth to work. When I got there the "stand manager" (one of our group who was managing the booth) said "Kerri, I'm sending you to another stand" so she took me, 2 other girls from our cart and then my friends who came with us and Cassidy and sent us to another booth, up on the 4th level of the stadium. That booth was an interior booth (the others were out in the plaza so they were out in the open) that sold sausages, hot dogs and garlic fries....OMG I sold so many garlic fries and cups of beer yesterday it was INSANE! LOL It was cool though, once we got into a rhythm and knew what we were doing. I had a couple of rude customers but most were really amazing, I got hit on at least twice (maybe a couple more but I wasn't sure if they were just friendly or were actually hitting on me lol) and a made a few dollars in tips. Once people found out we were volunteers and not getting paid actual money for our pockets they were really nice. lol When we finished we had to count our money and clean the work area and kitchen so once that was done we were able to leave. Got home about 8 and we picked up dinner on our way so once we got there we could just eat. I was in bed and asleep by 10 pm......hahahahaha I was exhausted! But it was fun and we had 4 people working for Cassidy so hopefully we made a good bit of money for her account and man, I now have a huge amount of respect for the people who work those venues, we didn't get any breaks at all and I barely was able to take drinks between customers!
At work today and have a lesson tonight, the girls are at home enjoying their day off today.

Hello Ladies!

A lot has been going on since I last checked in. Mel, those grandbabies are just darling! Thanks for sharing that picture. The beach looks pretty awesome too!

Katie darling!!!! Congratulations on your engagement. I am so happy to see you so happy...simply wonderful...

That is as much as I can remember and I am so sorry if I have missed anything else major. But hello to all...

We are just 17 days to moving and I am about 50% or so packed. It is a lot of work and I really feel like we have too much stuff too...I have gotten rid of 8 boxes so far and have another stack to go as well! I am determined to minimize any buying of stuff this year...

Which leads me to my next announcement...I am taking my 9 year old to Disneyland to celebrate his entry into double digits. Yeah! His birthday is Nov 22, which is not only Thanksgiving this year, but also just one week before we move. I convinced him to take the money that I would have spent on a party and presents and instead go on an experience. My husband was 100% behind it, so we are all set! We will be arriving on Dec. 15th and leaving on the 18th. Just a short trip, but I am really looking forward to it. Anyone else going to be around? Anyone else looking to make a short trip and wanting to share a room? I would love to cut down on that hotel expense a bit too. So that being said, I am no longer selling my annual pass, since I will now for sure get two trips out of it

Well, I am off to pack some more boxes. Have a great day!

Howdy all! I'm almost down to single digits on my trip countdown, so I'm starting to get "packing stress". LOL Other than that, nothing new around here except that it finally got cold enough that we turned the furnace on for the first time today, so now my house stinks of burned dust. Ick. Had a nice time at my cousin's wedding this weekend. Nothing else going on around here. Man, my life is boring. LOL
