whaddyathink - Anabella Hotel or Courtyard Marriott?

I had booked a Costco package for late August staying at the Courtyard Marriott Anaheim and am now pondering if I should change the hotel to the Anabella?

We are 2 adults and a teenager (13) who don't mind walking, although I wonder if the Courtyard is a bit too far. At the Anabella, we can get a "junior suite" which is their Casita suite - queen bed with a daybed in a separate little room with its own TV (perfect for the teenager!).

RE: Courtyard - I was thinking we could walk over to the Toy Story lot and catch the shuttle there, but if the Anabella is only 10-15 minutes, it just seems easier and more pleasant to walk (and not wait for a shuttle).

I welcome any suggestions / reviews. Thanks!

We are doing the Annabella for our June trip. This will be our first time here and we are really excited especially with the daybed room

We are going to be using ART for someone in our party but will probably walk on EE to be on the safe side

Thanks for your post - please let me know how your stay at the Anabella goes! Also, what's "EE"?

I've always enjoyed my stays at the Anabella. We cross the street, walk through the Grand, then out Downtown Disney to the main entrance. I would much rather do this than have to deal with a shuttle.

Personally, I wouldn't walk for the Courtyard Marriott. It seems far away on the map. And Google maps, walking, say it would take 20 minutes. Not sure how accurate that is but it would seem really crappy at the end of the day, I think.

I stayed at the Anabella once but it was back in 2006 so it's a bit different now with the old lot/tram we walked to being gone. I did like the hotel though!

We've stayed there, and the walk wasn't bad at all on the way in--even when our son was 4. We did, however, take cabs back on the nights that we were out very late.

I don't have experience with either hotel, but just wanted to point out that the Courtyard would allow the OP to earn points with Marriott Rewards. The points (and benefits!) do add up with subsequent visits. Not all hotels in the DLR area have a rewards/loyalty program, but, for us, planning to stay where we can earn points really pays off. For example, our hotel room for our last stay at the parks (4 days) was free (and we got upgraded to a DL view because of our loyalty level).

Thanks for the info about the Marriott points. Since I booked a package deal through Costco, I don't think I get points. We stayed last year at Farfield, another Marriott property, on a Costco package and although I showed my card (and got a nice top floor parkview upgrade), I didn't get Marriott points.

Anabella.

For those who like earning points but might not always be staying in an area with a hotel where they earn points...I would suggest booking through hotels.com. They have their own loyalty program. DH books everything through there, and often hotels will take the frequent stayer number anyway; not always to earn points, but to get access to a lounge or reception or whatever. Just a thought!
