This sounds like a perfect trip for Tweens/teens!

Do you mind sharing the room number? We are thinking of booking a BB and staying there.

IMO, The two least valuable criteria are (individual) CM experience and CL food variation between resorts. Food is pretty similar in all the resort CL's. Food is an important part of staying CL (or not) just not variation between CLs - unless you happen to know you really want something like a certain brand of beer offered at only one resort.

Each resort has pros and cons. I find the best criteria are: price points, theming, layout, and amenities you plan to use. (transportation, recreation) You kind of can't go wrong with Disney. Split stays are also another fun option.

Judging a resort based on the CM's that another guest happened to encounter months or years before your visit...probably not the best criteria.
I agree with you. The cm's are not even on my criteria for picking a resort or a club level.

I switched back from the GF to WL. WL lodge CL really meets all my criteria for resort at a price I am comfortable with. BC and YC CL's get a lot of bad reviews, but I would rather stay at these resorts than any of the monorail resorts even though the club levels are just ok. I just love being in the Epcot area.

I think it's better to pick the resort that you want and then decide if you want to upgrade to Club level. I would never pick a resort that I wasn't crazy about just because they have a great club level.

We were in room 5652. It has a full balcony but no daybed so it's slightly smaller than the rooms with daybeds, but it was a nice room. Upside for us too was it was literally 15-20 feet from the lounge so we used the lounge a lot. I was worried it was going to be noisy with the lounge, the concierge area right there and even an ice machine across the hall, but while we heard people when we were up we were never woken by noise or anything.

I'm pretty sure we faced the front of the resort so any room facing the front should have the same view. It was from a distance obviously, but it was still neat to see it.

For those of you who stay at CL and have also been on disney cruises, would you choose a longer CL stay even if you couldn't get into the parks the last few days, or would do cut your CL stay a few days short and do a short cruise instead?

Long version of my question: DH and I have ressies at AKL CL for Oct 20-27. We booked using a bounceback offer (when we stayed at AKL CL in april), and bouncback rates of 35% off were only available starting Oct 20. After we got home, we realized our APs expire Oct 22, which means no parks the last few days unless we want to buy another ticket. There's a 3-day dream cruise Oct 24-27 that we could do instead of staying CL for those last few nights.

The cost of hotel and food from Oct 24-27 is almost exactly the same as a balcony cabin on the cruise those dates, including port parking and DH's diving excursion that he'd like to take. If we get park tickets - either 4/5-day tix or APs again - that would put the price of staying at the parks well over doing the cruise.

On one hand, I think this might be a great opportunity to really enjoy CL, plus the extras like sunset safari and night vision safari (which we've already done, but would do again). Then again, that's just more $$$ for the extra tours. i also think i might go nuts knowing the parks, and especially the food and wine festival, are so close and we can't get in, but part of me rebels against the idea of paying for more tickets when we just had annual passes that we took 4 trips on.

On the other hand, this would be a great way to try the cruise - we went on the magic in 1998 when she'd only been sailing 2 months and it was a debacle, but since it's been 15 years i think it's time to try again. we're frequent cruisers on royal caribbean so cruising isn't new to us, but i'd like to try a disney cruise now that they've got a little more experience. I'm a little worried that a 3-day cruise will be so short we'll be rushing around like crazy, though, and won't have time to relax and enjoy.

We went through other ideas, like doing a 4-day cruise the week before or after, or giving up the bounceback discount and visiting DW a week earlier, but those options are a lot more expensive and/or would involve taking way too much time off work, so i think we're stuck with the week of the 20-27th (though we'll probably head down the 18th and stay at a mod the first two nights before switching to AKL CL on the 20th). Also, oct 23 is our anniversary so we like the idea of being in DW that day.

Anyway, thoughts would be appreciated from anyone who's stayed CL and done the cruises. I know that either way we'll have a great time, and this is truly a "first world problem", but we figure we need to book the cruise sometime soon if we're going to do it...

Thanks!

We got the gold cards. They added our UCT park tickets to the room key. We created a code for room charging. We got all of our room requests-near lounge and a daybed. The lounge is four rooms down and is close to elevator but not so close we hear much noise. It is nice. The room was clean. We always bring Lysol wipes to wipe remote and knobs etc.

The staff told us we could ask for bottled water for the parks and beer during afternoon if we wanted it.

Let me know if you have any questions and I will try to find answers.

How is your stay going? What are the evening appetizers like? Hope you're having a great time!

I would absolutely no question choose the cruise with a balcony cabin over a few extra days at CL, especially if you have never sailed with DCL and you've had several trips on your AP. Just resolve not to try to pack everything into three days on the cruise so you won't be running around crazy. It is short for a cruise but the way you broke it down, I think it is a no brainer..

By the way, there was another post about concierge level on DCL. We just did concierge on the Fantasy in late March and it is incomparable to the club level at WDW. A whole different level of service where they truly take care of almost everything for you. If you can afford it you won't regret it.

I'm happy to answer more questions...

Do the cruise!!!!! Club level is a nice resort upgrade, but nothing compares to a cruise. October is a great time for a cruise. The water will still be toasty warm. A 3 day cruise is short, but it will be a relaxing three days. Check in on your 75 day mark so you can get an early board time. We like to check in about 1130 and then head up to Cabanas for lunch. At 130 your stateroom will be ready.
Castaway key is a day of complete relaxation. It's beautiful and there are plenty of umbrellas and chairs for everyone. They also have an adult beach which is less crowded. The bbq lunch is fantastic. The adult beach serves steaks. We never do any excursions on the 4 night cruise. On Nassau day we take a cab to the beach at Atlantis and relax. If you have have any questions ask away or head on over to the cruise board. There is lots of info over there.

I agree with the PP, while I'd never turned down extra days on property especially in a CL room... It would be hard for me to be there without tickets. For the same price to add a cruise component I say you should DEF do the cruise!!!! I love the Disney cruise and castaway cay! For you, you are still going to get he best of both worlds... A few days in WDW and a few days on the cruise!

I agree! The cruise sounds wonderful and I think I would be miserable not being able to go to the parks.
