Here's my breakdown of our just-completed trip from 2/20-2/27 at POR (all costs actual as we're now home!):

7 nights POR Royal Guest Room (garden view) w/ 6 day Park Hopper tix: $2448.13
Food: $1012.97
Airfare: $671.37
Rental car: 269.09
Gas: $55.00
Trip insurance: $150.00
Misc groceries, souvenirs, etc.: $364.41

Grand total: $4970.97

A couple thoughts:
1) I have now done two trips without a rental car and one (this trip) with one. Both my wife and I vastly preferred this trip and the flexibility the car afforded us. I doubt we would ever do it without one from now on.
2) Having used the standard Dining Plan on both our previous trips and seeing the value steadily decrease, I went completely out of pocket on this one. Given that our daughter is now 10 the dining plan would have cost $1148.04. We spent less on food and got WAY more. For example, we ate at Le Cellier (dinner), Raglan Road (dinner), Jiko (dinner for myself only), San Angel Inn (dinner), Kona Cafe (breakfast), and a bunch of less-expensive places (including an evening dessert tour of Epcot ... mmm!) AND got appetizers, entrees and desserts at all our dinner meals. Clearly, for us as a 3-adult family (with only 2 of us actually eating like adults) the prepaid Dining Plan is no longer worth it.

I'm going with a friend and we're splitting the cost of the MYW Package. We're also planning on heading to IoA for a day to see WWoHP. My half of the total cost is:

MYW (CBR for 4 nights, DDP, plane tickets & 4 day hoppers) = $1,316
Universals Island of Adventure ticket = $88.00
Transportation(Mears to IoA) = $20
Tips = $50
Souvenirs = $250
Additional meals(Lunch @ Three Broomsticks)/snacks = $100

This comes to a total of $1824.

I can't decide if it's a good or bad budget but it's my first vacation without my family and the first one I'm paying for all on my own so I figured I don't mind spending a little more on myself. I'm pretty sure I won't need that much for extra food but I'm a souvenir addict, this is my first trip to Disney in 15 years, and without my family to limit me I may end up going a bit overboard (especially at WWoHP... I so want a wand but what would I do with it). My friend isn't a souvenir person though so hopefully she'll be able to keep me out of the souvenir shops or be able to get me out of them without me buying anything.

Our May trip is as follows:

1 night GV rm @ Polynesian: $431.77
5 nights 1 bdrm @ AKV Kidani: $1,846 (we rented points)
5 day MYW + WPFM tix for 2 adults, 1 disney adult, and 2 children: $1,394.46
(We used an Orbitz deal to buy our tix)
No trip insurance and we're driving from GA to WDW; also no DDP

Total for rooms and tix: $3,672.23

We will pay OOP for dining, but we will be eating at Kona, CRT, H&V, Sanaa, MBYBBQ, and Biergarten. I figured dining will be about $1,200. Nearly the same cost of the DDP, but we might cut out Kona and/or Sanaa in favor for some poolside CS.We also ordered a birthday cake for our oldest daughter from Pat at GF to be delivered to the Poly: $66

We are giving each of the kids $50 gift cards for souveniers.

So, total estimate cost including food and extras: $5,088.23

Two adults (myself and DD19, who will be auditioning for a face/fur character/parade mover in the College Program on 3/14), 4 nights ASmu, 4 day base tickets:
Hotel and park tickets: $482 ($982-$500 Disney VISA rewards $$)
RT Airfare MHT/MCO: $30 (Rapid Rewards points for airfare, plus $20 charge from SW, $10 EBCI for return leg)
Gas, tolls, parking at MHT: $150
Food: ?? but only have one ADR at Boma. Everything else will be quick service meals, with b'fast from supplies in our room. There will also be the required Mickey bar or Dole whip each day, so $30 right there! I also have $150 in Disney VISA rewards to offset the cost of food... so maybe $100 oop.
Rental car: $220 National Emerald Aisle with KLM code (this is a terrible time to rent a car, as it's not a 5 day rental with Sat. night stayover), plus gas.
Groceries: This will be b'fast, water, park snacks, so maybe $30. We eat yogurt for breakfast, and get granola bars for park snacks.
Airport hotel the night we return (plane lands at 12:30am, home is a 4 hour drive!): $63 through Hotwire.
Souvenirs: $25 or less. We don't buy souvenirs as we visit WDW frequently!

SO... Known expenses: $945. Anticipated expenses: $225 (oop food, gas, groceries). TOTAL $1170... so probably closer to $1300, being realistic.

Nov. 8th thru Nov. 16th.

Boardwalk Inn/Deluxe Dining Plan/Park hopper, water park fun, and More: $6055.92

Airfare: $679.60

Insurance: $151.90

Wine and Dine Half Marathon: $350

Tentative Total: $7237.42

This will be our 4th trip to Disney World since we got married. These prices are subject to change because from our understanding we get a discount on the room and tickets for the weekend of the Wine & Dine Half Marathon since we are participating.

We are't bless with children sadly but it does mean we don't tend to go in school holidays which might reduce the cost. Good luck on getting a good deal! Sometimes late august can be ok actually but the heat!
